The tail really stands out with the speckled appreance of the rest of it.My young thrasher is still hanging around......
......and chooses the most awkward positions possible to eat the suet!

He has such a "gawky" teenage look about him!
Baby Finch showed up at the bottle feeder......
.......flapping at dad for some attention, but didn't get any.
I have about 8 of these young House Sparrows and they have tried every feeder out there.
This one has seen the other birds eating this "caged" stuff and knows it must be something good!
Looking at the "messy mouth" you know he's been in the suet for sure!

You get the neatest birds there! I've never seen anybody with thrashers at their feeders.
I enjoyed catching up with your previous posts, too. You have some great pictures!
There is a wide variety of habitat avaiable around my house...woods, dense shrubs, meadow, farm fields, creeks... and I think that makes a big difference to having so many species...that and living where the climate is good for them all year round. The parent Thrasher is being shy this year, but that young one knows it has found a good thing and keeps coming back to that suet cake!

Don't you just love seeing the babies? It's neat how you can tell what they are, but they don't look quite right. I thought I might have heard a White-crowned Sparrow baby calling to a parent in the parking lot today, but alas, I couldn't find it. Fun photos you have today!
I am so totally amazed at the numbers of baby birds you have around!!! There are so many and such a variety of species. I don't I even think of seeing baby birds until summer gets here. Your location is obviously so great that you never even have to leave home for great birding experiences. You seem to have it all there! :-)

Thank you everyone! I do seem to get a lot of young, which shows this is a breeding area of the country for many species. Usually, they are as big as the parents when I see them....I don't see the really little ones that those of you with nest boxes do! It's their actions that usually give them away....flapping their little wings, staring at the food like they know they should do something but aren't quite sure what, or actually being fed by mom and dad. I'd just as soon NOT have such a large crop of House Sparrow young!
