The first garden is a "memory garden" dedicated to someone. It is a totally shaded garden with no visible flowers, just greenery and a very peaceful feel and coolness throughout.
In the center stands a fountain.
"Raise the stone and you shall find me, split the wood and I'll be there"
There are benches along the fence all looking towards the fountain.
The trees over-head come almost together, forming a canopy of peaceful serenity.
Light peeks through highlighting the hostas and plants here and there.
There was a bench dedicated to Carol, who the garden is in memory of.

The second garden was very different! A sunlit garden of color with bright poppies waving tall and serenely in the light! A small side garden with a mix of sun and shade loving plants by an old weathered house.
I loved the poppies and took a lot of pictures to use on my desktop :-)
I can't identify all the flowers, but just loved the total look! I want this garden at my house instead of an acre of grass!!! Of course I want the gardener to come with the garden!

Your G O'K poppy is beautiful! I love both gardens, but that shade garden is really something special. What a beautiful town and garden Harmony is! So glad you shared it with us.
John: It was a tranquil place and I imagine in the summer it is heavenly in that shade garden!
Annie: I love poppies and wish that I could grow some like this! I've tried plants, and seeds and never have any luck. It really is a cool little town to visit and is only about 20 minutes from where I live.
Gorgeous Gardens! I enjoyed seeing both of them - the poem in the first one is beautiful! Those poppies are so pretty - mine are just beginning to bloom.

Love your Georgie poppy! I grow those too but is will be some time before they are in bloom here.
April and Ann: I hope to see pictures of your poppies when they bloom! Tell me the secret of growing them! I've tried with no success :-(

This seems like a place where I could spend many quiet hours feeling at one with nature. A beautiful place Mary. Thanks for sharing. Those poppies make such a lovely splash of color.

Its looks like the same as we have here in the fields. Its the Corn Poppy.

I hadn't thought of it but poppies are a perfect Memorial Day flower! What with the Flander's Field connection and all. I can remember them selling paper poppies around Veteran's Day when I was in grade school.
Quite a contrast in the gardens. The first one reminds me of the Botanical gardens in our area, beautful but not a lot of color whereas the other one, so pretty with color. I'd take either one in my yard.

And the quilts in the earlyer post is beautiful! Quilting is not a big thing in norway and it is so nice to se all the advansed stuff you show :D
Sandy: Gardens without color are "nice"....but I prefer the beauty of the flowers. The first one was a nice place to sit and relax and probably to remember "Carol"....whoever she was that the garden was dedicated to.
Moseplassen: Now you have me curious about quilting in Norway. I know that there are quilters in just about every country and would love to know what sort of things your quilters do, even if they are few in number.
Yes, I love the photo of the poppies along the barn wood building too. The contrast is lovely. I can't remember the name of that tall white flower, but I have it in my garden and it smells like Heliotrope. It has started to reseed and I have more of it than last year. Its some kind of herb, but I can't remember.
NW Nature Nut: Thanks for the information! Probably what it is. If I go back this week, I'll study it more closely. I tend to just look at the beauty and don't worry about the names :-) I'm not a very good gardener, myself. Probably why I can't get poppies to grow!
