That's my skies for this week!
My favorite was the Hat Lady! She explained the entire process of turning fibers into felt into a hat. Fascinating and a great deal of hard work!

Outside of her tent was an artist who was making a clay statue of....the Hat Lady! He did an excellent job of catching her likeness.
The lady who showed how to make soap was also extremely interesting.

This wonderful old washboard that is at least a 100 years old. It is so soft and smooth it feels like marble.
We watched the Tin Smith complete a piece for a lantern. He was showing a young boy how to do it and letting him help.

I also love seeing people who can do the marvelous art of paper cutting called "Scherenschnitte". These were wonderful to look at! Another woman was cutting silhouettes of people.

They made a dead beeline for where we were standing. I don't know if that means they have been fed there before, or if they just wanted to show off all of these beautiful babies!
I believe mother goose is daring me to harm her babies in anyway. We lavished our praises on her lovely family :-)

I've never gotten this close to a bunch of babies before, so I was ecstatic! It was late and the light was failing, so I was thrilled to get any photos.

One little guy kept swimming off on his own.....always an independent thinker in any family.

They all were doing some diving for food.....I hope they found some since we didn't bring any. You are not suppose to feed the wild animals here, but I know that some people do.

This was a beautiful little church, but there was a car parked in front of the front door spoiling that view, but the side looks nice, too.

A tree peony. There is a flower farm on the outskirts of town that specializes in peonies of all types. It will be a few more weeks before they all bloom.
I thought this house was gorgeous and there was a lady sitting there doing a charcoal sketch of it. The temporary fencing rather spoils the view :-)

...the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak showed up yesterday! Yeah!
So far he has only landed on this feeder that is furthest from the house, so I'm not getting real good photos. I hope he will move up to the feeders closer to the house.
They are so beautiful I'm always glad to see them arrive.

I feel a few of the home birds deserve some photos for a change. My lovely Cardinals can always be counted on to be there every day.
Another visitor. Can you tell who it is? I was standing on the front step and he landed about 3 feet from me. I was lucky to even sneak the camera up to my eye and click....didn't get the distance altered....before he realized I was there and took off again. The Catbird....a spring visitor.
Today I saw both chickadees going in and out one right after the other. Does that mean the babies have hatched and they are both collecting food? Usually the only shot I get is when they are coming back out.....
....not a great shot, but he took off so quickly that by the time I clicked he was already in flight!

Another returning visitor! The Hummingbirds are back already! I was not in a good position for this shot, but was happy to have a first shot of one. A Ruby-Throated male. This is the only hummingbird species that I see here in Indiana.
Must have been a red day....the Red-Bellied Woodpecker on the oak tree.

Hmmmm....that spot under the wing needed a bit of attention. Birds are so flexible!
