What's blooming?

I was discussing this plant with Moseplassen in Norway. I believe it is the same one she showed...Cranesbill, or wild geranium. I love it even though some consider it invasive and even transplanted it from my old house to where we live now. I have dug up parts of it and spread it around to various places because it has such lovely flowers (when they aren't beat up by rain like right now!) and is easy to grow and always comes back. It used to be on both sides of the front door and formed lovely low "bush" looking plants like what is shown here. I need to to replace some of it that has gotten beaten up over the years.

I have a large white iris that grows one stalk. I usually have 2 of these plants, but this year only the one by the driveway is blooming and it is hard to photograph it without a "busy" background behind it. I caught it on the morning it was about to unfold and then again later when the first flower opened.

I wish it was in a better location. I have to stake it because it is so tall it always gets beat down in the rain.

My rhododendrons are beginning to bloom, but the weather is so gloomy, I might have to dig out some old photos! This was today and isn't even in good focus!

They are 2 large bushes that grow on either side of that flowering cherry tree I showed last month. I don't have a lot of good "northside exposure", which they prefer.

The first Mock Orange blossoms......we drastically cut back one of the bushes last year and they won't be real lush with blooms this year. Will take more pics when they really burst out all over.

I love their delicate look and they are right by the deck where they provide protection for the birds. They like to sit in them.

Finally......my first Peony of the year. Peonies are the State Flower for Indiana. Which is interesting because I learned that they are not a wildflower and not native to Indiana! Apparently it was a controversial decision. However, they are very popular all over the state and always bloom around Memorial Day and are used for taking to cemeteries. I have pink, dark red, and white.....but the rain always beats them up and they are so heavy headed that without support they really sag and droop. I bought some peony cages this year but didn't put them on soon enough. You can see the cage supporting this ones head. I also need to split mine, but every year I chicken out for fear they will never grow again :-) I will post more pictures if they survive the rain, or I will dig out some old pictures that were very good of the white peony.
