While I was busy taking pictures of the Red-wing Blackbird female in the tree.....
fluffing her feathers and preening......
and admiring the little trees along the edge of the lake......my husband says, "Hey did you see the turtle?"
Looking down at the water I see this teeny tiny little turtle sitting in the duckweed! "Well, no.....actually until you pointed it out, I didn't see it".
Looks a lot bigger when you enlarge it on the computer!
We continued along with me admiring the goose family and their growing offspring.......
When he says, once again......"Hey, did you see that little turtle on the rock?"

When he says, once again......"Hey, did you see that little turtle on the rock?""NO.........but now that you mention it......sure enough, there is a tiny turtle on that rock!"
(what is it with him seeing all the tiny turtles and I can't see anything larger than a goose????)
As we went further and I admired the lovely view down the stream, I hear him once again......
"Hurry up with the camera! Did you see this?????"
Sigh.......apparently I don't look down very often and don't see small things. Too busy looking up and searching for birds.
It appeared to be going down a hole here.
(what is it with him seeing all the tiny turtles and I can't see anything larger than a goose????)

(At least it isn't as big as the 2 rattlesnakes that I almost stepped on in Tucson)

We'll continue the walk with my VERY observant husband later.
(I think it is because he is farsighted and I'm nearsighted.....sure that's it.)

What teamwork!!! Great sightings, Mary! When my husband comes along for walks, I usually go in one direction and he goes in the other and we make a circle meeting in the middle, then we walk together, so we always have different pictures even though we've been to the same place.
Great shots Mary, looks like a great place and plenty to see.
Sandpiper: Well, I told him to bring his own camera....so he wouldn't want mine....but he didn't. However I would have missed all those little things, if he hadn't pointed them out, so maybe not staring through the camera all the time is a good thing :-)
Mike: There is a lot there and luckily my husband was kind enough to point it all out to me :-)
When we take a walk, I see the small low things and my husbands sees the grand vistas ... though he's getting better at the small things too. His theory was men were the hunters looking for the big game and the women were the gathers ... looking for seeds, berries etc. But this theory doesn't really work for you does it? Must be faulty.
Yikes! Yep, you'd better take him along, for sure. Fun post.
Cincero: I think his theory makes a lot of sense, but maybe as my husband puts it, "I'm just not very observant"....unless it is a bird :-)
Birdlady: I'll make him officially in charge of reptiles and other not easily seen things.
It's as good an excuse as any.
You are the best team. What kind of snake is that? We had a ratsnake running around our neighborhood recently and I posted a pic on my small world blog last week. Our whole neighborhood was scared of the snake!

JB: I really don't know what kind of snake it is. Probably not a harmful one.
JB: Tom, on the Ohio blog assures me this is just an Eastern garter snake....quiet harmless.
