Saturday was " Mystery Quilt Bus Trip" day......

When you go on a "mystery quilt bus trip" you know that you are bound to see LOTS of fabric.....

......lots and lots of fabric!

We visited 3 different quilt shops on this trip and left behind lots and lots of money!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
They were all wonderful quilt shops and much too tempting for a bunch of "fabric junkies".

I won't include the pictures of us lugging our bags of fabric and books and whatever off the bus at the end of the day.......best to not leave any evidence for our husbands as to how much we spent :-)

Quilt shops always have beautiful quilts on the walls to give you lots of idea on how to use all that fabric that you buy!

Besides going to fabric shops, our trip included stopping at the New Albany, IN Carnegie Center for Art and History to see a quilt exhibit by Juanita Yeager. Lovely old building and lovely quilts to look at! What more can you ask???

For dinner we stopped at a very wild and funky restaurant called Lynn's Paradise Cafe, Louisville, KY.

Where else might you see a huge coffeepot fountain, lots of colorful plastic flowers......

....and an ugly lamp contest????

It was a long day, a fun day, and a very quilted day!

It was a very quilt oriented week for me.....I went to 2 quilt shops on Monday in Washington, IN and Boonville, IN, a quilt show in Owensboro, KY on Friday, and the Mystery Quilt Bus Trip on Saturday! I promise to get back to nature tomorrow!

I like the way the Widow Skimmer hangs on to the grass

My bald cardinal is still bald and it has been several months since I saw her originally.

The Eastern Amberwings are the only ones that hover in one spot long enough for me to get the camera focused. I don't know how to set my camera to catch the faster ones.

Old harvest, new beginnings.....

I'm getting behind again.....these are from last weekendThe goldfinch was posing on the hook for me when I headed outside.

I realized last Saturday, that the wheat crop next door had been harvested so I headed down to take some pictures. I had to pass these Yucca in the neighbor's yard before I got to the wheat field.....

.....the Yucca is such a creamy white flower. I never think it looks like it belongs in Indiana, but people grow them anyway.

Next door, the winter wheat is indeed all gone!

All that remains

But while walking down the road, I saw all sorts of young crops coming on......young walnuts...

.....wild blackberries......

......a young bunny (how did he get in this crop essay?).....

......and young apples.

I need to get out and take some corn pictures. A lot of corn has been delayed by our wet spring. Some will be "knee high by the 4th of July" or even shoulder high, and some will barely reach the ankle. We saw a real mixture on the way to New Harmony on Saturday.

A drive to New Harmony and this and that...

After a week of being busy with Vacation Bible School every night, Mike and I decided to spend part of Saturday driving around enjoying the outdoors. So we headed to New Harmony to see how high the Wabash River was and whatever else we might want to look at.As we entered town I saw this beautiful little church with its lovely flowers out front.


I really like these purple ones.

These were right across the street.......Beautiful white lilies!

The water by the river was up very high and the boatramp was closed, but we stopped in a parking lot that was partly under water and I saw this robin gleaning the edge of the water.

The Golden Raintrees are in bloom right now. New Harmony has many scattered throughout the town. This one was on the way there and a good place for me to stop and take some pictures of these beautiful trees. Posey County, where New Harmony is located, is sometimes called "Raintree County" and there are many groups that use the name. My quilt guild is called the Raintree Quilter's Guild

Saw a lot of elderberry flowers along the roadsides. I love their shape and color

Went by the wetlands, too and found a Monarch

My best shot so far of the Amberwing female by the pond. The females never seem to rest a lot (naturally) and I am not good at photographing them in the air.....although Amberwings are easier for that then some of the others.
