I feel like I have neglected posting the "homies".......my faithful home birds that keep me entertained each day! Here is the Red-bellied male reaching for suet.
This wren found some interesting ways to perch to reach the suet.
Why the world never runs out of House Sparrows......I think these are young ones scattered in this mix.
Mrs. Redwing Blackbird likes a little space as she eats.
Baby chickadee trying to feed self.
I call this guy "DirtyDowny" and have no idea why his feathers are so stained. It is an easy one to spot whenever it comes to the feeder.
Hairy Woodpecker
Indigo Bunting still faithful and on the feeder instead of the driveway!

Robin still sitting.......I thought they had finally hatched, but she is still sitting, so I don't know.
Goldfinch catching the sunlight!
Cowbird display .....they do this a lot. Couldn't decide if it was courtship or "give me some space". They both appear to be females.

You have such a variety of birds at your place. And I had a bit of a 'dirt' Downy once too, maybe its something they grow out of. Still hoping for a Wren some day. You got a nice bunch of homies hangin out at your place!

Me and My Camera: That downy really puzzles me....he looks like he has been "tea dyed". Very brownish.

That's a great post! But - I don't want to talk, or even think, about house sparrows.
Wonderful variety, Mary! Love that the bunting is still hanging around. A couple of years ago, I had some undersized downy woodpeckers that had grey feathers underneath. They have since disappeared. Good stop action of the Cowbird with the spread wings. I like your top banner!
Birdlady: Thanks! Know exactly what you mean. Ever since I started providing more millet and such, the house sparrows are increasing! I may go back to all sunflower seed in feeders....but hate to punish the other birds!
Sandpiper: Thanks! That cowbird does that every time that other one is near. I've seen the female Redwing blackbird do the same thing. I've got at least 2 male buntings but have only seen the female once. I hope it is on a nest somewhere.
You must spend a lot of time sneaking up on these! I know you take the photos from inside, but stil.. Beautiful they are, and a great variety you have :D
Is that first bird a thrasher? I have one visiting a woodpecker feeder of mine. I always get him mixed up with the woodpeckers (who, by the way are not visiting the woodpecker feeder!).
Moseplassen: I can't walk past the front door without looking out and I keep the camera right there.
Annie: The first bird in this post was a Red-bellied woodpecker. The thrasher is in the posts below this one....the brown bird with striped chest. I always found that hanging up suet will bring woodpeckers sooner or later...especially the downys. Unfortunately I have some little raccoons coming at night and eating my suet, so I have to take it down every night...a real chore.
Lucky you~~ I've only seen a woodpecker maybe three times in my yard. Great photos of your yard birds.
Sandy: I guess location and amount of nearby trees makes a difference. I live in a rural area with a lot of trees nearby including several small woods areas.
You have a lot of different birds at your house! We don't have so many it seems. My mom is going to try to put out the suet again today to see if any takers. Last time it just rotted because no birdies were eating it.
