"The First Maple Savings and Loan"....

While watching the Sapsucker in this maple tree the last couple of days, I have come to realize that it is where all the best birds store their seeds in their little "deposit boxes" under the bark and just generally hang out!The tree stands at the end of our driveway very close to our property line with a line of pine trees belonging to the neighbor right behind it and a row of Forsythia bushes next to it. Great cover for all the birds!
I watched the Sapsucker for about an hour going up and down the limbs over and over either checking for bugs or perhaps stealing the seeds the other birds were hiding.

"Who me....steal seeds? I don't think so".

This is still a very new bird for me, so I take lots of photos! All the woodpeckers stop in this tree sooner or later. Doing some research tells me that having a Sapsucker is not necessarily a good thing. They can do a lot of damage!

I am finally seeing the red parts on the head better and the pale yellowish belly that I assume gives it its name.

They have a "dirty" look to them after the crisp white of the Downy and Red-Bellied!

I was very surprised to see this visitor to the maple....a Yellow-Rumped Warbler, I think!

Another surprise today....a Brown Creeper! Do they hide seeds or just looking for bugs?

Some birds like the Cardinal......

.....and Junco just pass through and rest there before heading to the seeds in the driveway or yard.

The Wren was pecking away out there, too!

And of course every Bank needs a burly "Security Guard" to keep an eye on things!
