I had to sit home waiting for a delivery yesterday, so I went nowhere and have only a few photos of the home birds.
Mrs. Downy came by as always.

This was his favorite today.In a typical day I see probably at least a dozen species of birds in my yard, but they are always the same birds, so the photos seem a lot a like.
Mostly it was a squirrel day.....
I had squirrels in the trees, squirrels in the drive...
.....bounding across the yard and even climbing over the house. I saw at least 4 out there most of the day.
They wore Mouse out who really wanted me to open the door so she could chase them!
Since I told her "no" .....she took a nap.
All I have to do is spread a quilt on my lap and these 2 fight over who gets to lay on it. This time they decided to share.....a very rare occurrence! I pretty much ran out of lap! Squirrel watching is tiring for everyone!
Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting........or not!

Your kitties are so cute. Mouse seems very unconcerned, or is she just sleepy?
I've had the same birds too every day, and now with all this snow I have to feed twice a day.
I'm wondering about Evening Grosbeaks- I haven't seen any in years. I wonder where they all went. I used to have big flocks of them.
Becky: Mouse likes to sleep a lot, but she was going nuts when the squirrels were out there. She really wanted to get out there and give chase. I've never seen an Evening Grosbeak here. I'm seeing less of some birds then normal, but so far it is a strange winter. Mostly rainy, temps up and down. Sort of like Seattle weather.
You are getting some good shots with that camera!
More great pictures, Mary. I never tire of seeing the bird pictures.

SQuirrel watching, yes I've tired myself out in the past, sitting and watching them all day, ha! Cute photos of them on the quilt.
It doesn't matter if you photograph the same bird several times. A great picture is a great picture, no matter how many similar ones we've seen.
Not bad for a day at home, waiting. Birds, squirrels, cats - all the best animals to photograph.

Sandy: I just love using the cats for an excuse to stay in a chair and not move :-)

Wren: It was a nice day to do very little. I appreciate my home birds a lot for their entertainment value. I've got about 5 squirrels right now taking advantage of the mild weather to come and fill their fat tummies.
Well you did get some sky in behind the Chickadees! That must have beeb quite an effort. Love the idea of house hunting for squirrels.
These are brilliant Mary. You are getting just too good at this photography lark.
Mouse looks so handsome gorgeous I think I might watch him all day. We would really like to have a cat, as we had one for years but we have family now that have cat allergies. My husband did buy a box of cat food the other day though as we have a stray that visits our yard every day and he wants to make sure it doesn't go hungry in our winter cold.
We all have days like that.You still got some great shots.

Arija: The birds aren't so happy about all the squirrels, but I don't mind them. The cats totally ignore the birds, but they really want to chase squirrels.
Roy: Thanks, but so far I mostly just autofocus and hope for the best. I'll try harder when the weather is nicer, I think.
Ann: Mouse looks more lovely than she is. She has a nasty disposition and does not want to be handled by anyone. We have a beautiful black stray that hangs around and I end up feeding it, so I understand your husband :-) Mike's sister has serious cat allergies and it is really hard to not have the family come to our house any more because of that. These may be my last 3 cats...who knows?

Loved them all! The first downy is particularly good - all her little "whiskers" are showing.
I just saw a cute thing on a video of this cat sitting on top of where a squirrel was nesting and she came out and bit the cats tail to get rid of it. I had a good laugh and the poor cat sped off fast. So maybe it is a good thing they did not get outside to chase them. :)

Joan: That sounds funny to see! I don't ever worry about the squirrels or even the birds very much with my cats. My cats are too lazy to tackle anything other than a mouse or something small and slow. The squirrels can run rings around my cats!
Mary I get the same species day after day. But when you get a stranger its a big Yippee. Mouse looks worn out by the sqirrells. Don
