Silver Spotted Skipper
I was photographing butterflies at the Hartman Arboretum today and this shot just stood out for me because of the colorful blurred background. This place is a macro-photographers dream right now, but I don't have any special lens or anything. I chased some of the smaller ones around anyway :-)

A beauty, that you captured there!
Yes the background is gorgeous!
Cheers, Klaus
Nicely done - doesn't look like you're missing anything by not having a special lens.
Klaus: Thanks! There were so many colorful flowers around, that I just got lucky.
Wren: Well...when I look at all the ones that didn't focus correctly or that I missed while trying to make it focus on the thing that I wanted a picture of close...I can tell that I lack either knowledge or equipment or both at times. Frustrating many times!
Hey Mary, Happy Skywatching! I guess your sky is man made today.
Thank you for visiting my storms-a-coming sunrise.
..
That's a great shot Mary - none of this modesty please!
I'll be out looking for the european version of the Silver Spotted Skipper, and like our Goldfinch it seems less spectacular than the US namesake.
That is a great shot Mary.
That's a beautiful shot!! Love looking at your GORGEOUS pictures. They are so peaceful and calming.
Great photo, I'm sure I would go nuts in a place like that.
Mary - your photos are gorgeous! I know what you mean about being frustrated with equipment - I feel the same way when I "see" the shot and it just doesn't come out that way. There is no doubt in your talent - wonderful job! I've enjoyed looking through your site. :)
Jim: Thanks for stopping by...actually I hadn't posted my skywatch yet, but they were from the same day :-)
Kingsdowner: Thanks, but it really is luck when I do something like this. I don't "set things up" or plan them. I'm sure I'll enjoy seeing your silver spot too.
Roy: Thanks!
Sandy: Thanks and glad you came by!
John: I thought about you when I saw all the butterflies and bugs yesterday in this garden...and the flowers! You'd have trouble getting your tripod high enough for those Joe Pye plants :-)
Toni: Thanks! I have a lot of trouble making my camera forcus on things that are real close, and if I have to zoom to get close, it is even harder. It focuses on everything except what I want...urgh!
How did I miss this one. Beautiful!!!
