Absolutely gorgeous Mary. I simply love Butterflies. I think they are Fritillaries, and that last one is a Skipper.
I haven't seen any for a while, and I hope they haven't all gone away.
I'm not good at butterfly id either - and it doesn't matter a bit to me - I just love looking at them - these are beautiful.

Helen: I agree.....what I see is what I care about and it's name just doesn't seem to matter. These were so pretty on the flowers. There were larger ones that I never did catch sitting still and gave up on.
Beautiful photos Mary. I love butterflies too. You have such a great variety and I enjoyed looking at them.
I think the top one is a Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui). I took a really bad photo of one earlier this summer and I haven't seen one since. ;-(

They definitely are beauties Mary. The first one looks like our Painted Lady. Wonderful shots of these butterflies. I have just put in some flower seed to attract them this summer.
Great minds think alike--I finally got some good butterfly pictures and they are on my blog. Started with them before skywatch and have continued with them. In my last post is a link to a butterfly identification site.
In trying to identify some of mine, I seen some of these. Whether they have a name or not, I sure enjoy seeing them.
