I've had a Mockingbird hanging around recently, so I got a few good shots.
He looked so tall sitting in the drive.
He's very nervous sitting in the tree.
Look at the head turn....think he has a good chiropractor?
A nice portrait from this side.....
....but head on, he really "glares".
I have this cute little Wren, who prefers to "squawk" very loudly rather then sing a pretty song. Don't know if it is an alarm call, a mating call, or what.....but it is loud!
I like the perch he found on this piece of bark!

Did some of the Guineas decide to come to Indiana to visit me????
We were heading into town, when Mike spotted this group at the side of the road, so he pulled into a drive across from them......They promptly decided to join us on our side of the road!
I hope we weren't responsible for encouraging them to leave their own yard to see if the grass was greener on the other side!
Does the color difference mean something....male, female? Different breed?
The whole time we were taking photos of the guineas, this rooster was posing! He never moved one inch the whole time! I finally asked Mike if he was real or stuffed! He was real, but I don't know why he just stood there without moving. Maybe he was trying to solve the riddle of "Why did the Guineas cross the road?"

Hi Mary! Great Mockingbird and wren but HEY!!! Look at those guineas!!! I'm sure you wernt the reason they went over...guineas go were ever they want. There are many different colors of guineas. Mine are pearl a very hardy breed. These light ones may be Lavender.

This was great fun but all my guineas are in the coop!

Wow, I can't beleive you have green gras where you are. We still have 3 feet of snow on the ground. I can't wait for the warm weather birds to start arriving.
The Mocking bird is a good looking fellow and I think Wrens are always cute.

John: Some of the grass never turns brown and we only had a few inches of snow during that big ice storm for the whole winter. That's why I live in southern Indiana rather than Maine :-) I really feel sorry for those of you that still have months of winter to go. I couldn't stand that much cold weather.
Ruth: Wrens are adorable most of the time, but I keep getting these real noisy ones...makes it easy for me to spot them.

I was wondering about the Guineas coloring. So glad you asked Eve, so I could read her answer. Nice Mockingbird photos, and the perch for the Wren is neat.

We raised Guineas one time. They do not like to be penned up. They do make great watch dogs (Guineas) too, and can be very noisy! If I remember right there are 2 different colors, and the lighter ones are called Pearl Guineas. Not sure about the dark ones anymore.
We don't get Mockingbirds up here, but I do like to listen to them.

Leedra: Eve is the guinea expert! I know nothing about the, other then they like to wander out onto busy roads.

Really terrific mocking bird pics Mary!! Excellent. Our Guinea fowl look the same as the dark one. Do you know if they are native to the USA? I had to smile at the rooster. He was probably wondering what wierd species was invading his turf. LOL!!
That rooster is a handsome one...I used to collect roosters. My aunt had guineas....to me they are a strange bird.
I like the mockingbird and I enjoyed catching up.

Great shots, especially the first ones. Those last ones were really interesting. I've never seen those gray ones.
