Skywatch Friday.....

This rag-tag flock of ducks (?) were circling the wetlands trying to decide whether to land or not.
They made at least 5 circles before deciding that they didn't want to land after all. There were already a few ducks on the lake, so maybe they felt that was all it could hold with the water so low.
They don't seem to fly in very orderly fashion :-)

The grasses were more cooperative for photographs than the ducks.

The clouds were gorgeous!

Love this tree against the blue and clouds.

Wisps and puffs.

I sometimes wonder what the birds are up to when they act that way.

Katney: they were certainly checking the place out well before landing. Maybe they saw me, although I was still in the edge of the woods looking out.

A beautiful series for Sky Watch!
'Rag tag' - they sure seem unorganized sometimes don't they. :)

I especially like the grass and tree ones Mary. Seems like those ducks need to be taught some manners...couldn't they see you were waiting to take their photograph!! LOL!!

Haven't those clouds been special this Fall?
Last night I saw a large flock of ducks flying over. I've not seen this before, and I'm not sure where they were going.
Have a wonderful SWF.

Also, thanks for welcoming me to SWF!

Thanks everyone!

Annie: There enough small lakes everywhere in this area to handle lots of ducks :-) Maybe some will end up on my pond so I can count them for the October count!

I love the ones with all the ducks...the geese kind of spoil us into thinking that groups of birds should fly in an orderly fashion and we look at these others and wonder why they don't... At least that I the conclusion I have come to about myself.

Nice. I love to try to capture small flocks whirling through the air, often as if the quick rise from being hidden in the fields and grasses is a big surprise for them, and me too and so I seldom get many good pics as I am not expecting them. I did get some blackbirds today though. I had seen where they had landed and stood by the side of the highway near a and said, "psssst" and they rose up and posed for me. :-) You rag tag flock is nice. Happy skywatch.

simply wonderful sky watch I love love love the tree! love the ducks they crack me up when they fly over here! and beautiful skies!

Rose: Yes, I do tend to think they all should fly nice and orderly...habit:-) Love them however they fly!

Ann: I'm always caught unaware also...usually with my camera zoomed in way too close to get shots and I have a terrible time finding them in the lens and tracking them.

Laura: It is no wonder there are so many bird watchers with all the interesting behavior patterns.

I apologize to all who I did not respond to individually, but on Skywatch days, I just can't keep up!

Great set of photos. I like that the ducks do look disorganized in the first couple of pics and then they seem to straighten up and fly right. :-D

Great set of skywatch photos. Love your tree and 'cooperative'grasses.
Maybe the ducks were a little tipsy
or rather high? Nice shots all.

Mary said...

2sweetnsaxy: Thanks! I guess we all straighten up and fly right eventually :-)....if we want to survive.

arija: Thanks for stopping by! They were high and low and everywhere in between :-)
