The Chickadee and Titmouse, no finer birds I've seen
But trying to take their photos, makes me want to scream!
They dive from branch to branch, they love to dart and flit,
But seldom do they ever seem to take the time to sit!
They grab a seed and strike a pose, I push the button down....

I mean really.........
I get more shots of head blurs and butts stuck in the air,
I mean really.........

If I must take 100 photos, could we have it understood..

Oh, Mary, your poem is hysterical and so true to life. I can totally relate. And the photos are a perfect illustration for it, even if they aren't what you were hoping for.
Aw, these are beautiful pictures, Mary, and I love your poem! It's soooooooo true! They don't like to cooperate. Thanks for the continued visits even though I'm not blogging much lately. It's really so nice of you, and thanks for the kind words, too. I'm trying to figure out this "Follow Blog" stuff, and don't know how to add you yet because I don't see a widget your page. Love your poem Mary!! That is something I DEFINITELY cannot do!! :) Yip, I know that frustrated feeling only too well. That will teach us not to rather do photography on something nice and simple like flowers or fruit!! LOL!! But just think how bored we would be!!
Wren: I did try to treat you to the BEST photos and not the 100 that I threw away because they were nothing but blurs, empty branches and butts stuck in the air.
Linn: I don't think I have activated the "following" gadget. Will check on it. I don't really understand its purpose and figure if someone wants to follow they will :-) No obligations.
Joan: Somehow your comment sneaked in above my answer! These 2 little birds...along with the wren....give me more trouble then any others. I no sooner click the button and suddenly there is no longer a bird there! I have so many lovely photos of empty branches and blurs!
That is funny! And true. They are very tough to shoot. And your pics are great. Don't think I just went out, took some pics and then go home. To get the images I took I had to take two 8 hour sessions, sitting silently in the wood, being a free buffet for spiders, ants, noseeums and mosquitoes... ;)

Oh so funny! They are very hard to capture!
Klaus: You deserve to have perfect photos if you sat in the woods for 16 hours to get them...bugs and all! You are the dedicated photographer! I get frustrated just standing by the door peeking out the window for 1 hour! At least I can have a cup of tea sitting nearby :-)
Ann: Well, they did finally grant me one or two decent photos :-) I made a deal with them...I'll keep filling the feeders if they stop and pose occasionally!

Portland and EG: Thanks for stopping by! I just checked the map and I didn't realize that the Titmouse had not worked its way any further north or west than it has....but it's trying! Some day, I bet you will have them. Makes me appreciate them even more when I realize how fortunate I am to live where they are.
Helen: Thanks....I throw out as many photos as I keep, but they certainly keep me trying! They are my most faithful bird at the moment. I think it is the youngsters from this summer that I'm seeing constantly.

Michelle: Yes, I did see that....sort of gross and sad all at once and so strange! You would think someone could capture it and clip it's beak or something, but I suppose it isn't that easy. I felt very sorry for it.

You are seeing some wonderful birds for the October bird count. The Titmouse is not one I see up here - it's a very pretty bird.

I find 1 in 30 is usually about right.

April: Well, your list is more impressive than mine. I think the hawk that is hanging around might be scaring my birds away, because I'm not getting much feeder activity.
Roy: I couldn't live without a digital, but on the other hand trying to get it to "grab" the focus faster is part of my problem. I use autofocus and in low light and busy backgrounds, it doesn't find what I want.
Fishing Guy: Clever! It seems that bird watchers are poets, too :-)
John: Thanks....I usually manage to get at least one that is OK evenetually....after 100 poor ones.
