I guess this is my smaller world. Ill be posting a LOT of fall color on Friday, but here are photos I took from our own yard and the neighborhood on Saturday. We have more green than color :-)
This lovely birch tree is at the corner of our front yard.
The crab apples in the front yard. The oak out front turned brown and dropped its leaves due to our drought. The ash and silver maple are still green!
I know some of you are curious about my house.....it looked prettier before the dogwood tree died, but that vine almost makes it look alive :-)
This is a side yard view.
This is standing on the back deck looking towards the pond.
The far side of the pond and the neighbors little red trees. One field away on the other side of those trees is a busy highway with a church. They play their carillon in the morning and the evening and the beautiful music drifts across the lake to us...wish I could capture that for you!
The dam is on our side of the pond and this lovely yellow tree is hanging over at the end.
This is in the neighbor's back yard.
Part of our back yard from the deck looking down the road. Too much grass for my liking, but when you have a septic system, you don't plant trees over it :-)
Our maples that are just tinged with a bit of color. I was disappointed to find out they were not the type that changed to bright orange.
Near the top of one there is some red. The sun was in and out the whole time I was trying to take these photos. Tree color is so much better with lots of sun!
Walking down the road, there was a lovely little yellow maple along the drainage ditch/creek area.

The house down front has this lovely maple!
Across the main road there are some terrific trees in one yard.
A Burning Bush at the neighbor's.
I'm surprised they have not harvested these beans yet! It's one of the few bean fields left standing in the area.
Nice yellow bean color.

Eve: Thanks! It's a different sort of house to live in, but it's energy efficient! 6" walls really help keep the bills down.

Mary, I didn't know you had a dome house! That is so great. I love the neighborhood and wow, you have a pond/lake behind your house. Somehow I've missed this info, ha! ...or else I would have been on a plane visiting.

Beautifull fall pictures, we had our first snow today, so all the colors are gone, so im looking forward to seeing more from you.
What an interesting house! Why did you decide on such a house? Was it for aesthetics or for some practical reason? A lovely property you have and some lovely fall colour.

I really thought that all my regular readers knew that we lived in a dome....it's been mentioned before. We built the dome for energy efficiency and it really is. When I hear other people discuss their energy bills, I thank Mike for wanting to build a dome. I have photos of the dome being built, so I will have to use those in a post sometime. We built the garage to have solar panals put on it, but have never installed any. Still an option for the future! A dome is very strong and when you live where there are tornados and earthquakes that is sort of reassuring. It takes getting used to on the inside with all the slanted walls. I'll try to put together a post about domes....or get Mike to do it in his blog since he's the engineer of the family!
I love those dome homes! How fun. I too haven't counted any new birds for the October Bird Count. I think you are right, they will all show up on Saturday!
Awesome dome! Love where you live, no wonder you have so many incredible photo ops. If we ever own are own land, we would love to build a dome. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you everyone! Domes are different, so you have to be a bit strange to want one :-) Our builder hated that nothing had 90 degree corners except one closet!

Our fall has been just an incredible thing to behold this year. I can't even wrap my head around the colors.
Went searching for past posts you may have written on your dome home and discovered you love Charlie Harper! He's one of my favorites - I have five or so prints of his - one (his wood duck) I found in a consignement store for $15.00!! - and love them all.
Such good taste we two, you and I have!
Annie: I haven't mentioned the dome often, but it has sneaked in occasionally. I realize now that I removed one post about a bird trapped in the dome (I thought I was running out of space and took out several unimportant posts) Charlie Harper is great! Too bad he died last year. I have quite a few of his prints, but one disadvantage of a dome is that you can't hang things on the slanted outside walls. I don't know where to hang some of them! $15 is a great price! Have you looked on ebay? There are always some for sale on there. They now sell a lot of non-signed "decorator prints" which are much cheaper then the signed ones and look just as good! I've always wanted the Bobwhite family print. I'm sure our good taste is a "Missouri thing" :-)

First I LOVE your home! So unique. Way back in my younger days we had a family that lived in a dome house near where my parents had a camp. It was always so fascenating, and I loved going there. The rooms were not square inside either.

Fishing Guy: Must have been a fairly small nightclub or a fairly large dome! We have several more in this area and there used to be one that was a laundrymat.
