We pass a house on the way to town that has a barrier of pine trees separating it from the road. In the past week, they have blossomed with mushrooms .....more than I've ever seen in one place!
This has to be the biggest "fairy ring" that I've ever seen and it is just part of what is there.
Here is another section. I was so thrilled that I couldn't stop taking photos....what's new??
All sizes, all shapes.
I love the big split ones, but also the little balls that are just beginning to open.
My favorite group.....like a mother with her two little babies :-)
You can see two more coming up out of the pine needles next to this one.

I've never really seen this type of mushroom before. The ones that come up at our house are never this pretty or this big.

Very split, but somehow that makes them just as interesting.
Such pretty yellow with a few pine needles for interest.
....even a few flowers and pine cones.
They make me think of Alice in Wonderland. "Who R U?"
Lots of needles and cones among them.
Some much older ones.
More in the distance on another little hillside. I don't know these people and didn't feel I could wander all over their property, so I basically just stayed near the edge of the road. If these weren't out in the country, I'm sure kids would have kicked them over and distroyed them all. A magical place for photographs if not for fairies :-)

Wonderful!! They look huge too and I love the different shapes and colors.
Lovely photos...an idea of something to look for .I want to go out and find some witches' butter[ a fungus] before Hallowe'en. Maybe it would be a good topic for 'mellow yellow Tuesday' and a good reason for a walk in the woods. Your comments with these pics are great.Ann

Wow! It's a mushroom colony! They really are quite pretty close up, aren't they!
Goodness, Mary... That area could be called the Mushroom Capital of the World. I've never seen that many different types of mushrooms in one place. Shows how much rain we've had....

A wonderful post Mary. I love Mushrooms, and this is an excellant grouping. I have an evergreen tree in the front yard that had so many tiny mushrooms, but before I got any good pictures we had all that cold weather and now snow!

Thank you everyone.....I was just fascinated by these mushrooms and now I look for them everytime I drive down that road. I wish I could roam around in them a bit more :-)
