It looks like the former Chickadee "mansion" is being considered by new owners!
The contractors and decorators are at work right now.....make that Wren-notators!
Apparently the new Wren owners do not like the Chickadee decorating scheme, so it is being tossed out the door!
This is very hard work!
"You wouldn't think those Chickadees would have so much junk from living here for a few months!"
"Such bad taste....I can't raise babies in this mess!"
When not working they are singing merrily! I had taken the following sound bite to ask you all who was singing....but now I know! House Wren in love!
(In case I never said....the Chickadee family "flew the coop" right after I took photos. Apparently having the babies hanging out the door attracting attention panicked the parents into getting them out of there. I saw the parents still coming for food and flying off into the trees the next day, so I assume they are fine. The wren didn't show up until much later and there was no disturbance to the nest or dead bodies when we checked it after the chickadees left.)

It's lovely to be able to see the birds working so hard to build their nests and then raising their young. We have blue tits in a nest box in one of our trees - I feel quite privileged. A x
Glad to see the WRENovations are going so well! This will be very wrenteresting to watch the new family wrenter the world. OK, I'll stop now.
I'm sooooo glad you mentioned at the end that the Chickadee family had already flown the nest...I mean gourd. Look forward to baby Wren posts now maybe??? (-:

Annie: OK...I give! LOL! I got the name "wren-novations" from a Charlie Harper print and after watching them, it was very appropriate.
Jenny: I've been a little worried about the chickadees, but today I saw 3-4 at the railing getting seed, so I think that is the parents and babies together now. I had read that they will fledge them early if they feel threatened. The two babes sticking their heads out the day I took photos looked big enough to fly.
Ruth: I hope this wren doesn't give up. We helped it out by removing that big chunk of stuff that it had pulled part way out :-) I'm going to hang several of these gourds next year! It's much better then the one that is nesting on the shelf in the garage. I can see her head in the nest and have been leaving the garage door open.
Glad your little Wrens are setting up their nest... You'll get to see their babies. Hopefully, those darn sparrows don't bother the wrens. GADS!!!

Adorable, you are so lucky, Mary, I even put up a house for the Wrens and they just don't like the neighborhood. Any hints?
...such a cute post (and clever title!). The video of the wren trying to pull out the chickadee's old nest was cute. Looks like she has her work cut out for her!

I don't know why the wrens like us....maybe because I leave the garage open for them :-) I keep seeing bits disappear at this gourd, but don't think anyone has actually moved in yet. Maybe she gave up afer having so much trouble with the old nest. I'll just let it hang there and see what happens next.
Thought of your Chickadees the other day when I noticed a Chickadee checking out one of Bluebird houses (that the Bluebirds didn't use). The Chickadee didn't end out using it after all. Told Jimmy he put the opening too close to toward the wind. He is going to have to move it on around the post if the birds continue to ignore it.
