I'm embarassed to admit that I don't know most bird calls but wish that I did. My yard birds are so noisy right now, that I decided to take a video....actually an audio....clip or two and see if those of you who know more can tell me who I am listening to! There are two that seem to call back and forth to each other...very loudly. Turn up your volume and "Name That Bird!" (birds)

Cool Mary- You've definitely got a Carolina wren in their, maybe a cardinal as well. So I didn't know you were a basketball player!

Hmmmm, The only one I think I recogonise is a Flicker at the end of the 2nd video.

Tom: The real loud one is the wren, right? Basketball? I'm a little short for basketball....the rim makes a nice place to hang the chickadee gourd:-) I should have used the video that showed the chickadee sitting on the edge of the hole.
Becky: I wondered if that one was a woodpecker of some sort. I don't usually see Flickers here at my feeders, so if he is out there he is eating somewhere else. Do the Red-Bellied or Downy sound similar? I really have to get some bird songs to listen to.
I haven't a clue what kind of birds I hear either so you know I can't help. The birds are pretty noisy in my yard too. I love it. What a joyful sound they make.
I also hear the wren...and a cardinal...and a flicker too, right at the end of the second video! Today when I was in the woods, I heard several warbler songs I didn't know (actually, there are a lot of songs I don't know!), and it didn't dawn on me until I was in the car I could have made a video of the sound and looked them up at home (just like you did!). Live and learn...
Mary- For me the wren makes a teakettle teakettle song, some people here cheeseberger, cheeseberger.

2sweetnsaxy: I'd love to learn more of the songs I hear. I'm a slow learner for audio stuff...plus I'm hard of hearing :-)
Kelly: The cardinal seems to have several songs or calls and I'm never sure of all of them. I know that one that he uses to say..."look out there's a cat around", but not the others.
Tom:I hear that "teakettle, teakettle" all the time. But it also has a loud squawking noise it makes sometimes.
The one I can always count on getting right is the "Chickadee...dee...dee" from my little friends. Right now they are quiet...maybe they don't want to draw attention to their nest.
Fishing Guy: They can all be remarkably noisy and trying to sort out the calls, if you can't see the birds is hard.
This was a big help for me Mary and I was thinking this morning about just do this!!
I'm glad to see the people comment because the C. Wren is new to me and I have to get used to that song. I hear the cardinal in the first and second clip too. If you can find the Petersons Bird CD for the computer it would be great for you to get. It's like a book but you can also listen to the songs and calls. It is such a big help for learning.
Eve: Actually I have that Peterson Bird CD and never think to use it! Duh! The wren is really loud and has several calls. Even though the cardinal is our state bird, I have never sorted out exactly which call is his except when they squawk at the cats. Some birds seem to have so many different calls! I got to hear an eagle today, but not very well, since I am hard of hearing and was stupid enough to talk while I was video taping....darn.
