Surprise visitor......

Some of you see warblers all the time......but I don't!

What a nice suprise to be watching my "bird tree" and suddenly this lovely little Yellow Throated Warbler stopped by! He is so pretty.....I hope he comes again!

I only got a couple of pictures, but I was thrilled to get that.

My Hairy Woodpecker really wanted to pose for me.....

......so I let him pose all he wanted!

The red feathers on top of his head seemed a bit sparse.

My sunflowers have a steady stream of bees on them!

I haven't had a chickadee pose for quite a while and am only sorry that the light was getting dim and I had trouble making him stand out better even with a little adjusting. Look how tiny his claws look and then go back and look at the Hairy again!

I liked this shot just because it shows how very small the Downy is in comparison with the big ash tree he is on! I was lazing in the hammock and this is a different view then I normally have of this tree!

The downys and nuthatches and the squirrel really like this suet feeder and I can see that I need a new suet cake for it! Often there are 3-4 trying to get to it at once.

Your little yellow throated warbler is a perfect specimen. Very nice. - Great wp and chickadee too.

What a great shot of that Warbler. I have only seen one of those before and that was in the early spring.
I still have Hairy's and Downeys'showing up daily too.

Helen: Thanks! It was wonderful to see and I only wish it hadn't hidden behind the suet cake. I really hope it comes back.

Becky: Thanks! I have so many Downys this year! They must have done very well with their nests. The Hairy is getting to be very regular, too. But I'm not seeing some of my other normal visitors....the wrens, titmice, chickadees as much as usual. Not sure if it is my feeders or that they didn't breed well.

I always enjoy it too when an unexpected bird species shows up in my backyard. At least you were able to get a photo of it.

Klaus: Thanks...the hammock is my BEST idea :-)

John: I keep the camera sitting right by the door where my "bird tree" is. I stop by every time I walk past and watch for awhile...that is why nothing else gets done at my house :-)

That Warbler is a pretty bird Mary, but I especially like the bee and sunflower. Lovely shots here.

Joan: Thank you! I had a lot of trouble making the camera focus on both. I usually have one in focus but not the other....frustrating.

oh, nice. I like the effect of the warbler peeking out from behind the suet, even if it hides a little of his tail feathers.

These are great, I love the hairy woodpecker and as far as I know I've never seen a warbler here.

I love that flower!!

Great perspective with the tree and birds.

Is that a honey bee??? I haven't seen a honey bee once this year! Hope it is a honey bee.

Love the woodpecker - that one picture looks like he wonders just why you're taking his photo! Just lovely.

What a beautiful little warbler and it is a species that we don't have here in our area. Do you keep a life list for that must be a life bird for you.

Wren: I wish he had hid a little less and shown me a little more :-)

Sandy: The hairy is pretty impressive with that big beak. The sunflowers offer all sorts of views, even if they look pretty messy all around my front door area :-)

Annie: Not sure what kind of bee...a very large one. He really likes my sunflowers and comes every day. I think the Hairy looks like he has a lot of attitude :-)

Ann: Yes, I do keep a life list, but sometimes forget to update it. I had seen this warbler once before according to my life list, and I think I got 1 photo that time from a distance. This time he was closer, being at the feeder. I love seeing new birds and studying their feathers and appearance!
