I didn't get out much this weekend, so here are photos from the homefront.
I love these little Dayflowers, but had a terrible time getting a good close-up. They are very tiny (half inch or less). I don't have an actual macro lens....just a setting....so this is the best I could get. These are scattered throughout my various flower beds and just seem to come up on their own without my help. I think they are cute little things, even though they are more greenry than flower. They bloom early in the day and close in the heat by noon. I just learned that on Google!
The male goldfinch stopped in at the feeder.......
......but then decided he prefered "home grown" and fresh to the "canned" sunflower seeds.
The Mrs. likes them, too and I see them flit about among the sunflowers trying to find ripe seeds.
I was looking at this yellow lily that I didn't even know that I had....and saw this little hopper on it.....cute!
And of course now that my hummers are here, you will see lots of photos of them!

It is fun getting the wings in different places. Sometimes she comes over to the window and zooms up and down right in front of me, but of course my camera is not on the right setting for that and I never get it! Sort of taunting me, I think.

I liked that photo of the dayflower, I've seen them around here but I don't have any photos. I think that bug on your daylily is a katydid.
Blue is a favourite colour of mine; those little blue flowers would look nice scattered about your garden, or mine.
Klaus and John: I wish you both would photograph the Dayflower, because you are so much better at macro! I really struggled to get a non-blurred shot. Katydid....didn't know the name of it, but I keep seeing them hopping around. I hope you see a hummer Klaus, because I know you would take super pics of it!
Ann: They are cute little flowers, but they have a lot of stem and leaves in proportion. They sort of take over the area they are in, but in my garden it doesn't much matter :-)
I love the lily with the katydid on it Mary. Good shot. Thos Hummingbird ones are excellent. I wish I could get some shots of the we have such lovely one here. I must make a feeder for them before summer start as I cannot but one anywhere.

Joan: Thanks! I hope you get shots of your hummers, so I can see what kind you have! I honestly think they would drink from a small cup, it was hanging where they could get to it and the ants couldn't. Can you buy one on-line?

Catching up on your most recent posts. I loved the series of squirrel pictures, especially the one the showing its feet while it hung upside down. Great birds and flowers, too.
Kerri: The goldfinches are very entertaining trying to balance on those heavy droopy sunflower heads.
Annie: Hummers are always fun to watch. Do your neighbors have them? Usually if they are in the area, you can get them to come with a feeder hanging near a tree they can sit on and guard from.

Sometimes the very best is right at home - these photos are wonderful.

Eve: Thanks....we all get behind in this sometimes. I haven't felt well for several days, so I'm staying out of the heat and just seeing what is here at home.
Sandy: One thing that both the hummer and blue flower have in common is that they are tiny. I made them look huge, but both are very small.
Becky: Dayflowers are easy to overlook....very small and the green part is the most noticable part.
