(I'm double posting today....my nature post Bugs, Bugs, Bugs..... follows)
Our quilt guild challenge this year was called "The Power of Two".
The rules were to get a quilting buddy and created 1 or 2 quilted projects that go together with the theme of "Two". You could only use 2 colors and were to work together on at least part of it. Last night was our "reveal" at the guild meeting. I think you can guess which project I was part of :-)
Tea for Two! These ladies were very creative and even added a label on the back with tea bag tags hanging from it! Really pretty!
They said they really enjoyed working together and talking mostly :-)
These two are old friends and did very different projects (everyone interpreted the challenge differently, we found out)
Earlene added some blocks to Lois's quilt.....
......and Lois gave a "helping hand" to Earlene with her Bowtie quilt :-)
These two attempted to learn some new things together and learned that patience is very necessary in paper-piecing .......

.......their not quite finished projects
These ladies traded this baby quilt back and forth working on it and it will be donated to our Angel Quilts service projects. Wonderful!
Everyone had fun and some new friendships were created as well as beautiful projects. Some were old friends, but many of these ladies had never worked together before.

Beautiful work...I started one from my daughter's baby clothes, but never finished it...
Mary, I love and really enjoy it when you post your "quilt" stuff. What fun to get to see what these talented ladies are doing. Love your vest.
happy 4th to you.
Helen: Thanks! Maybe its time to pick it up and try again :-) I think one problem for beginning quilters is they want to start with something too hard and get frustrated. I did nothing but sew 6 inch squares together for the first 10 years that I made "quilts". Even now, I make a top and then have someone else quilt it unless it is really small.
Sandy: Thank you! I'm never sure whether anyone wants to see the quilt stuff or not, but it is part of what I enjoy, so I will keep posting once in a while. I thought about a seperate quilt blog, but I already have 3 blogs and don't want another one to keep up.
What lovely interpretations! Love your and the other Mary's vests.
P.S. - I'M BACK!!!
Annie: Glad to have you back!
I love quilts, even though I don't know how to sew!,and this idea is a terrific one. I bet many friends were made . I especially like your vests and the one with the tea cups.
Becky: I loved the teacups, too! I'm a tea drinker and may have to see if I can borrow the pattern from them. We all had a lot of fun and everyone's stories were fun to listen to.
Fabulous quilts! Wow...that's a lot of talented people all gathered together! Lovley!
Kerri: We have a very nice quilt guild and it is really growing. I get so much inspiration seeing all the lovely things they turn out.
Some really beautiful quilts here Mary. It seems like you this group of ladies are having a lot of fun.
Joan: I thought they did a wonderful job with this challenge.
Very definitely!! But where is the picture of you and your quilt?? :) I think we would all like to see it.
Or did you only do the vest?
I hear ya, I have too many blogs. Besides the ones listed I also have four other ones, one for each grandkid. It keeps me way too busy at times.
Glad you will continue some quilt posts. It's so Americana.
