I'm trying to learn to applique some butterflies from this wonderful book. The colors are not always totally accurate........for a nit-picky nature person......but they are relatively easy and my first one didn't turn out too badly! I'm trying to choose my next one and leaning towards the Blue Copper......looks easy and I like the color :-)
Haven't decided what to do with this yet.....turn it into a pillow sham, a bag, or just a little wall hanging. I sewed some beads on the flower center earlier today and now I don't know if I like them or not. ......may remove them.....they aren't in this picture.

I would say you did very well Mary!! Well done!! We can never copy nature exactly as we will never be able get those exact colors.
How lovely and satisfying it must be so to create something so very beautiful as this Monarch you have reproduced; even to including the black dots along the edges of its wings! I think you are influencing my plans for those long cold winter months to come. That looks like a great book!
I vote for a wall hanging Mary. You did a beautiful job! I admire so much folks like you who can sew, because I can't!
Joan: Thanks...it's fun picking the colors and fabrics to get as close as possible. Sometimes it is also fun to just choose a lot of fabric in the general color scheme and see what happens :-)

Ann: You really should! With your art talent, I know you would be a wonderful quilter! I do better with the pieced projects then with applique, but I'm determined to learn both.
Becky: Thanks! Anyone can learn to sew on a machine, it just takes an interest. I didn't learn until after I was married. Sewing in school wasn't required. I did some embroidery as a child, but that was all. There are a lot of very good male quilters. Quilting involves a lot of mechanical, geometrical precision that I think some men like.
Mary, you create such beautiful work! This will be awesome no matter what you choose for its final format.

Sandy: I'm torn between pillow or wall hanging. Might depend on what the next one looks like and if I want them paired.
