Just watching the birds at home yesterday.
I think this dove lost some tail feathers. Sometimes in winter they freeze to a perch and pull out. If you look closely there are two little feathers on top of the bigger ones, but no really long tail feathers. Interesting.
Downy checking me out as I check her out.

Lovely close shots of your beautiful feathered friends Mary. A x
I agree that your dove appears to be missing tail feathers. Hopefully it can still fly decent enough until they grow back. I once rescued a mourning dove that had lost all of it's long tail feathers and long wing feathers. (Not sure how, probably some sort of predator.) It could not fly at all, only hop and flutter. It wouldn't have lasted a day around here. So I took it in and kept it for months until they all grew back in and it could fly again, then I released it. It took longer than I would have expected, but it did very well.
Beautiful series of pictures. Will that Dove grow new feathers to replace the lost ones?
Blessings,Ruth
It looks like your gang is happy. I don't want to know if the Raccoons are out yet. I did see a groundhog running across the snow this morning while we were out. I guess they're fed up with this weather too. LOL
B.
You got some wonderful pictures of your 'home bodies'. I hope the racoon doesn't cause too much trouble.
Mary: Love all the birds. I wish I got a Mockingbird.
