We didn't go out until late yesterday afternoon. We drove to Blue Grass to see if there were any owls hanging around or other birds of interest. Nothing that interesting to see, however. We saw one pair of Shovelers on one of the lakes and a distant hawk or two. Mostly we saw large swarms of blackbirds looking for a place to settle for the night. Out in the distance you could see them joining up and long lines stretching across the sky.
One of their favorite places is this huge tree at the edge of the cemetery.

The noise of the birds is really loud as the chitter to each other.
I call it "the bird tree".

Now going back to last Friday in New Harmony, IN
I always love this large house in New Harmony. It is behind a brick wall, as you can see and is a private residence. I believe it once belonged to the Owen family that were behind one of the utopian movements that lived in New Harmony.
What caught my eye on this day was the roof with the weather vane.
Unusual! Looking more closely, I don't know if it is a weather vane or just a fish topper, but I like it :-)

The bird tree is phenomenal and artistic, with great composition. I also really like the bridge crossing the Wabash River with its bridge reaching hopefully towards the blue sky.
As for text editing in blogger, yeah, I run into strange things with it too. Basically it comes down to holding your breath when you hit the key to post, then going back and editing the html like 5 times until it all settles into place. Have never gotten the blue underline thing though, yet!
Love all the birds.I believe they can make quite a noise.I think the bridge picture is really neat.

Country Dreaming: Thanks for the nice comments! I've had that text problem before if I tried to cut and paste words to a new location, but never just when I wanted to type them between photos. I think it was turning them into a "link" and I don't know why it should do that! I don't usually use the HTML for editing at all, but I did try it and that didn't get rid of it either.
Ruth: The birds in that tree are very vocal. Even with my bad hearing I can hear them chattering to each other. I always wonder why some blackbirds choose a solitary tree by themselves and others want to be in a huge group like that. Maybe the solitary ones have a territory staked out?

Hi Mary. Seems like the days are just flying by and I'm so far behind on blogging! I'm loving all the posts I've missed. The flying geese, ducks and ever present turtles!!! hahaha! And don't forget Star! You really have a way of getting the hard to find P. Woodpeckers and hawks don't you!

Hi Mary, Great pictures.... Love the one with all of the trillions of birds in the small tree!!!! Love that house and its 'top'....
I use the OLD Editor in Blogger --since the new one would not allow me to put the pictures and words where I wanted them. SO---I publish one picture at a time, put it where I want it and then type my text under the picture --with space before the next picture. It seems to work well.
Since I'm a leftie, I like to read my text UNDER the picture instead of before it. Sometimes, I can't tell if text goes with the picture above or the picture below --if there is no space.... Wish Blogger would make it easier for all of us.
We're having a wonderful time in Arkansas.. We've taken a billion pictures!!! ha

All those blackbirds certainly is a good sign for Spring! I really like how they look like "buds" on the tree at a distance.

Mary, I do get the blue link think every now and then...but I can usually backspace to clear the letters, then I click outside the box, then go back and click and can type where I want. I would love to know what I do that makes it do that, though.
Pictures like that always remind me of the movie "The Birds". :) That is a lovely old house. The rooms in these places were always so spacious.
I loved this short trip Mary :) And I think, it's just a fish topper.
