It's been awhile since I looked around the yard and took some photos at home.
I have two huge Spirea bushes between the lilacs and they are currently in bloom. I love how the white flowers cascade to the ground.
They are pretty in close-up, too. (NOTE: What appear to be dots on the petals are the tips of the anthers)
There were dozens of bees, flies and other bugs hovering all over them! I tried to capture some of the them, but many wouldn't hold still long enough for a photo. Here we have a busy bee and a little bug below it.
I think another bee....there seemed to be big and little bee type bugs.

Mike found this little guy sitting on the handle of a shovel he forgot to put away.
He seemed content to just sit there.
When I tried to pick him up, he decided that Mike's shirt front was a good spot to go. Ha!
We've had quite a bit of rain beating everything down, but I had a couple of irises that still looked pretty.
My white Peony is about to bloom! Always one of my favorites.
A bright male Goldfinch getting a few seeds.
Hmmm...when the grass is "Robin high" it must be time to mow again!
Not a great shot of Mrs. Red-Bellied, but I needed a little bird variety :-)
Anyone need a Maple tree????

Anyone need a Maple tree????If even a small fraction of the ones all over our yard rooted, I could open a tree nursery. I'll be pulling up little Maple trees from all over our property for the rest of the summer. These are all from one tree....we have two other maples, in the side yard.

How beautiful the Spirea is Mary. I just love those dots on the petals. I wonder if they smell as nice as they look? :) The bees are having a good feast there alright.

I love that little tree frog Mary! Leave the light on for him at night! He'll eat lots of bugs for you!
I so enjoyed this post.I had never realized that the Spirea flowers had all those dots on them.This is very pretty.I know what you are saying about the Maple trees,we have one too.I love the tree,and so far it has not been too bad for volunteer trees,but who knows.

Two of you commented on the "dots" on the petals...that is the tip of the anthers and just looks like dots because there are a lot of them.
Eve: I love the little toad/frogs. They get on the sliding glass door sometimes to catch bugs at night if the light is on.
Mary, that spirea is so pretty. I love to see it blooming every spring! Cute little frog, too.
Gorgeous Mary... I love those little flowers ---and the tree is LOADED with them...Bet the bees liked them.
I call those little 'things' off of the Maples "Airplanes".... We don't have nearly as many of them as we do those Oak thingees which are EVERYWHERE... OH--don't we love spring????
That Iris is gorgeous... Love the colors... Ours are beginning to bloom here too.

How comical your toad story and photo's!!: ) Real interesting the reflection on the spirea flowers looking like dots. I said what!! I never seen them on mine then I laughed when I realized what happened..

The Spirea bushes are so beautiful! I would love to have something like that in our back yard. Your second photo makes me think of polka dot fabric. =D

Beautiful iris and peony. I don't know if I'll make it back in time to see the peonies in our area. Sounds like there is going to be A LOT of rain there this weekend. =(
Maple trees, so pretty, so messy. The town where we grew up was referred to as "The Maple City."
