The Mallard pair has been visiting my yard this week. 
I guess she doesn't have a nest or she would be sitting on it.
The male always stands on guard while they are in my yard and doesn't eat anything. He just watches her eat.
I think she wants to know why the bowl is almost empty and if I have anything better than corn?
She found some of the bird seed on the drive. She certainly remembers from last year that I will feed her there.
I've been trying to get a good shot of her leg band.
This cropped pretty well and I can read most of it, but I don't know where to report it. I did some looking on the Internet, but I'm still not sure. It seems they mostly expect to get reports from hunters that have killed ducks. I don't know what banding program it is for.

It is amazing how fast they learn where they can get food. Let them find it just once and they will always come back. :)
How great to have ducks in your own yard. I don't think I've ever experienced that. I found some wood dsucks this morning, they are very beautiful! Have a great day! Ann
I really like mallards they always look like they are smiling! :) They must like having Mary around for and easy lunch!! To bad you can't read the banding, but I can see why!!
I don't know a thing about the banding program, but those are beautiful ducks! Lucky you, that they come to your yard!!!

I agree that the place to send it is the cornell site listed above. They are great there. I sent a photo of a Purple Finch one time because they had never been in my area. They confirmed it was really a Purple and not a House Finch.
By the way, love the quilt at the top.
I wondered if they would come back to nest again...looks like you will have babies later in the year.
Hi Mary, Love the pictures of your mallards... I'm surprised that the lady is NOT nesting yet.... Hmmm---keep updating us on these two!!!!
