A very sweet looking Red-Bellied. For some reason it looks smaller? younger? It was just hanging there enjoying the nice weather, I guess.
"How about if we share that??"
Sharing with reluctance. There was one on the left corner, too, but the Red-Bellied reached down and pecked it to make it go away. Sharing is limited apparently.
We've seen several hawks while out driving around the last few days. I can tell this one has a reddish belly but that is about all I can tell.

Hi Mary, I noticed the red belly looked more compact too. Wonder if is the angle?

Lovely photos! The Red-Bellied Woodpeckers are quite handsome birds; I only have Downies at my suet feeder. Looks like you had a great trip, too. :)

Your camera does it. Check page 68 of the manual "Adjusting Light Metering"
You have a choice of 'Multi', 'Spot' or 'Average'
I bet they are happy you are home! The first time I went on vacation after making friends with Mama Squirrel...when I came home and seen her the first time she came and ran around and around my feet smelling...that is one time I would have like to have had a video camera.

I found the GREATEST MOST WONDERFUL bird books (three in all) recently at thrift stores. The illustrations, education about birds in these are so wonderful. The Towhee is one I think I've had in my yard but not sure. I've gotta do some research in these books.
