You may never be happy with my squirrels again, after this post :-)
These are photos that my sister took last summer of the bobcats in the backyard. I'm just amazed that these beautiful animals come to her yard! A little scary....but I could live with it just to get to see them. Mike says the coyote that visits, bothers him a lot more.
Just a kitty laying in the grass!
Looking around
Look at the ears laid back in submission on the one.

Well, at least there's one! What wonderful photos.
However, I hear there's an uprising amongst your neighborhood squirrels. They're very jealous of their Sunday being usurped and WANT THEIR DAY BACK!!!
Oh what I would give to have those to watch! Aren't they just beautiful!
Hmm. Nice little Kitty, Mary.
Such fantastic photos and a real treat for those of us who have never seen them.
I can't get over how much they act like domestic house cats.
Awww I love kitties especially big ones.
The 7th photo with one cat's paw on the other's head is so fun =)
What a treat! Having these guys visit your yard must be so cool. thanks for sharing the pictures with us!
Amazing shots. Most people never even get a glimpse of a Bobcat.
Blessings,Ruth
Awesone pictures. I bet its kinda scary though seeing them up so close like that. I would worry about having a small dog or a domestic cat outside when they showed up.
I have seen Bobcats in our are, but it has been a number of years since I have spotted one. Around ten years a go I saw a Mountain Lion cross the road. I have friends who still occasionally hear the Mountain Lions. It is an eerie scream.
An Arkies Musings
I think Ole could handle one of these guys, but Daisy Lu....I cant think about it! Funny Mary, I had a dream the other night that a cougar was about to pounce on Daisy. When I got up there were litty cat tracks at my slider door!!!
Amazing, to have a bobcat come so openly into the yard ... they are normally so shy.
I think I saw one in our yard the first summer we were here ... the tail end of it anyway as it turned tail and ran when I walked towards the feeders ... I didn't even see it until it ran. It was stalking our squirrel at the time. The squirrel population disappeared for about a year after that so I'm thinking it picked a few off!!!
They are truely beautiful animals, and someone must be feeding them for them to be that tame. I'd be a bit worried if I had any cats that went outside, or bunnies around.
Glad you got home safe.
Lots of snow here, sigh, I'm really begining to tire of it..BUT we all know there will be one terrible storm around St. Patrick's Day sometime, So don't count the days till Spring just yet.
B.
I know my sister doesn't feed them! With so many quail, bunnies, doves, etc. I imagine they do alright. They didn't come this close the days we were there. When the one I saw was aware that I was looking out the door at it, he went away without coming in the yard. They jump up on that low wall around her yard and only come in if no one is around. Her kitchen window looks out at the yard and she sees them from there. I think the 2 playing here were fairly young. They don't come every day...at least not that we know.
I'm back home and need to unpack and transfer photos to the main computer and then I hope to get caught up with everyone'a blogs in the next few days and get back to a normal schedule.
Wow, this is a great post to see these guys! Your sis did good!
I love these photos and would be ecstatic to be able to photograph these in my yard, as long as they leave after their photo shoot.
These are fabulous. What an amazing creature to have visiting. I've loved your Arizona holiday Mary, the scenery just makes me realise how much I want to visit there.
Will look foward to the resumption of your Indiana blogging though!

Mary, I'm glad you made it home safe and sound.. With all of the airlines and their problems these days, I am always thankful when my friends make it safely.
The Bobcat is totally amazing. He looks just like a kitty cat.. It's unbelievable that they come so close to the home.. Scary--but obviously, there hasn't been any problems.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
Mary, These are awesome shots of the Bobcats! I would have a fit if I could get to shoot wild animals like that.
Mary you have outdone yourself with these stunning pics!! WOW!! What a pleasure it would be to have these in my backyard. Make no mistake though, as much as these are awesome, I still love Star on a Sunday. :)
Mary: Those are wonderful photos of the Bobcats.
I guess they'd keep the squirrels away!
Thanks everyone!
Kingsdowner: Actually, Mike saw a squirrel on two different days sneaking some bird seed. It was a grey squirrel and not as brazen as my Fox Squirrel thieves at home. She also has bunnies in the yard constantly.
Oh how incredibly wow! But I still love your squirrels Mary :)
Denise: Thanks!
