For everyone who is trying to help identify my hawk, I went back through the photos and found a side shot....if that helps. Sorry that I didn't see it sooner! I cropped it in as close as I could for detail.

Hi Mary, I think I'll stick with my earlier mention of a Red-shouldered Hawk. I use the Sibley Guide to Birds (see p.117)
Ann: I think enough people have said "immature Red-shouldered Hawk" to declare that the answer.
