The url's you included about round barns are both fascinating reading and viewing. I couldn't believe there were so many when I downloaded the first one! So many!
And I'm still not sure why round barns were built or how they were better than standard rectangular ones, but all in all, very interesting. That is a wonderful heritage for your area!
Wow, I had never thought to look these up on the net...I have a book about the round barns in Indiana...but I will sure enjoy these sights.
My goodness. I never realized there are so many, and just in Indiana. What must it be like in the rest of the nation? I've only seen a couple around here. Great pictures, and history. Thanks for sharing.
Ann, Rose, Becky: I'm glad you found these interesting. I feel like I should go around looking for round barns now that I know there are so many out there....before they fall down or disappear. As to why they built them?....My husband says that a round barn would be the most effecient use of space, just like a circle in any other circumstance. I guess for someone who lives in a round house, I should understand that, although domes have additional attractions of strength and air movement efficiency :-)
