When you go on a "mystery quilt bus trip" you know that you are bound to see LOTS of fabric.....
......lots and lots of fabric!
We visited 3 different quilt shops on this trip and left behind lots and lots of money!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
They were all wonderful quilt shops and much too tempting for a bunch of "fabric junkies".
I won't include the pictures of us lugging our bags of fabric and books and whatever off the bus at the end of the day.......best to not leave any evidence for our husbands as to how much we spent :-)
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Quilt shops always have beautiful quilts on the walls to give you lots of idea on how to use all that fabric that you buy!
Besides going to fabric shops, our trip included stopping at the New Albany, IN Carnegie Center for Art and History to see a quilt exhibit by Juanita Yeager. Lovely old building and lovely quilts to look at! What more can you ask???

Below are a few of Juanita Yeager's beautiful quilts of flowers
Big and beautiful and colorful!

For dinner we stopped at a very wild and funky restaurant called Lynn's Paradise Cafe, Louisville, KY.

Where else might you see a huge coffeepot fountain, lots of colorful plastic flowers......

.......blue frogs and other strange animals......
.....legs hanging from the walls......
These were some truly UGLY lamps!
It was a long day, a fun day, and a very quilted day!

It was a very quilt oriented week for me.....I went to 2 quilt shops on Monday in Washington, IN and Boonville, IN, a quilt show in Owensboro, KY on Friday, and the Mystery Quilt Bus Trip on Saturday! I promise to get back to nature tomorrow!

The quilts and their colours are beautiful!! I also think the big red teapot is kind of neat too. It sounds like you had a wonderful day; full of inspiration and fellowship with fellow quilters. The birds will always be waiting for you on your return.
A fabulous post! This looks like so much fun! I have never learned to quilt...but I certainly admire the talents of those who do.
That restaurant looked so NEAT!!!
What cool trips you had last week. I have a very dear friend that sews everything. She is very talanted does amazing work. She loves doing quilting, and made a blanket/ quilt for me on my retirement with little notes sewed on signed by all my friends at work. It is so special. She and I went to a quilt show once and I couldn't get over the beautiful work some of these folks do !
I LOVE that coffee pot fountain, and that blue frog is too COOL ! .
Ann: It was a fun day, except for spending so much money on fabric :-) I'll have to stay out of quilt shops for awhile....but these were fabulous shops for those who love fabric!
Kerri: Quilting is a lot of fun and I've met a lot of very nice people through it. The restaurant was really wild....but hard to take pictures inside in the dark.
What a wonderful time you must have had. The pictures make me wish I were there. The quilts are gorgeous. I love all the beautiful patterns. The frog and coffee pot are so cute. Gorgeous architecture on the building, too.
What a fun trip Mary!! The flower quilts are especially beautiful!! I would love to see your bags but I guess it's a good secret to keep!!!
Becky: Quilts like the one your friend made for you are the best and make such wonderful memories!
Sandpiper: we had a great time...and tiring time....and expensive time....:-)
Eve:Yeager's flower quilts are really bold and beautiful! I've seen an earlier exhibit of her quilts and she always has such large beautiful arty flowers. My bags were sneaked into the house and directly to the sewing room, never to be seen by anyone :-) I bought a pattern for a beautiful batik quilt, I hope to make.
Such a big choice of material would be much tto confusing for my small mind. LOL!! What beautiful colors in those quilts Mary. It seems like you had a wonderful trip, besides spending too much that is!! :)
Joan: When I walk into a fabric store like those, I tend to get "sensory overload". I see it all, and can't make up my mind what to buy (but I managed to make a few decisions :-) It helps if you have a particular project in mind when you start looking! Good thing I don't do this often.
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this post, and loved seeing the fabrics, the ugly lamps, hearing all about your day out.

That Lynn's cafe looks like a pretty whimsical place, very interesting.
Sandy: It was a fun day from start to finish!
John: This cafe was really wild and the food was good, too.
What an inspiring day out! As a fellow fabric junkie I'd love to have been on that bus :)
Sue: Always glad to meet a fellow fabric junkie :-) I'd love to see a total for what the 21 of us on the bus spent Saturday! (or maybe not)
Here is what you do. You put the fabric in the trunk of the car for a couple of weeks. Then you bring it in when he is not there and unpack it so the bags are not evident. When he notices it and asks, you say, "Oh, I've had that around for ages."
Sounds like a fun trip. The quilt shop where I hung out, taught, (and ran a tab that I would pay on every payday) closed about three years ago. I miss it, but my pockebook doesn't. I wish I had more time to quilt.
What a fun if somewhat $$$$ trip!! Material just calls to one! Lovely quilts. That cafe looks too, too fun!
