Sparrows......

I'm several days behind with photos and we just got some more snow....another dusting of 2-3".
It seems like I have seen quite a few sparrows in the last week in different locations. This White-throated Sparrow is at my house digging around for little seeds that he might like.
The back view.

Another front shot.

Saturday I went to the wetlands to see if there was anything happening....not much. However I did see a couple of sparrows
I think this is the Song Sparrow....he didn't want to pose for me.

This one I'm not sure about.....my best guess is a Swamp Sparrow. I've seen one there before and it looks a lot like the photo in the Sibley's guidebook.

Earlier in the week when I was trying out the new lens we went to Blue Grass and there were several sparrows in the cattails. I think it is an American Tree Sparrow.
Considering how many kinds of sparrows there are, I have really only seen 6-7 different kinds in my life. I would like to see more of these cute little birds that haunt the grasses.

White-Throats are a favourite of mine. I also like all the sparrows, but they're hard to recognize. You can try Cornell Labs which compare like birds. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River.

Hi Mary,
Very nice pictures of the Sparrows. I like the White-throated one espically because of the bright yellow patch by his eye. I really had a good time yesterday shooting the birds in the rare snow we received. They kept me busy all day! (as you can see, I can't type today! Had to delete two comments because my brain said type one word and my fingers typed something else!)

I love White-throated Sparrows. I could hear a few half-heartedly singing when I was out filling the feeders this morn. My guess would be Swamp Sparrow also...and the last one, Tree Sparrow too. I love all the sparrows!

The White Throated is here for me now, but just one, and I never seem to get a good picture of that throat. Yours is beautiful.

You've shared some wonderful pictures of the sparrows. The last picture shows how well you are learning to use your new lens.
