The cold weather is keeping the birds very busy at the feeders.
A little Chickadee on the pole.
Easier to get a seed from the rim.
"I think the Blue Jay has been eating my peanuts!"

For once the Song Sparrow looked up and held still for a couple of seconds!
The little Carolina Wren hopping around on the ground by the fountain.

I was standing in the open garage doorway watching a Titmouse when this guy flew in and landed in front of me on the maple tree. A lot of branches in the way, but I did get a couple of quick shots.
I assume this is the same Cooper's hawk that has been watching my birds all summer. It seems to think that I am "setting the table" for his meal!

You got some great shots of the Chickadee! Weel, all of them are good, but he and the Carolina Wren are so quick, I consider myself lucky if I get a decent shot of them. That Wren is so funny looking when he's looking straight at you! Have a happy weekend!
i'd keep an eye on that cooper's hawk, for sure. he seems to be getting closer to what he thinks might be his prize. your photos are incredible as always. love those blue jay pics below. he certainly has his beak full, doesn't he? i'm guessing you'll need more peanuts. have a great day.
We don't have a hawk coming that close to our feeders, although we did spot one flying around yesterday. We have the same visitors to our feeders plus lots of goldfinch.
Lovely. Birds looking right at the camera,make for a strange expression.

The Wren straight on looks cute. The Coopers Hawk is magnificent I love all birds of prey. They have to eat too, I dont like it maybe you could put him a few mice or something out and maybe he would leave the birds alone. (like that would happen) XXX Don
I've never seen a hawk near our feeders --but I know they are 'around'... When the birds leave ---I always wonder where the hawk is!!!!!!

Eve: I hope he only takes House Sparrows...sounds heartless, but I have about 50 of them.
Dorothy: The little birds are very quick and I get a lot of "bird gone" shots!
Naquillity: I'm working on putting some peanuts where I don't think the jays can get them...I strung some up and hung them.
George: I don't see him often, but he knows there are lots of birds at my house.
Ruth: It does make them look funny :-)
Don: I'm sure there are plenty of little rodents around for him, but birds are easier when they are busy feeding.
Betsy: I know...they just all disappear and you know its out there somewhere.

I just love the pole-dancing chickadee! It is scarry to know that Jack the Ripper is lurking about. Hope your little birds escape the 'take-away' window.
Arija: I hope so too. Maybe that mass of House Sparrows will come in handy for something. There are a lot more of them than the little birds. The little ones seem pretty clever at zipping in and out quickly.
I can't seem to get any good Chickadee shots. They are always flitting about.
Old MR. Hawk making everybody nervous again I see. The one here has been hanging around every day too.
