I went to Wesselman Park yesterday and watched the birds and squirrels from the viewing room of the nature center for a couple of hours. So.....I have lots of squirrel photos for awhile!
If you can't find any acorns.......then just grab a leaf instead!
I've never seen a squirrel munch on a leaf, but this little guy carried his leaf up the tree and sat there and chewed on it.
Isn't he cute?
I don't think he found it very exciting, but he worked on it.
Then he decided to see if there were any little morsels left on this cob.
Maybe he was trying to make me feel sorry for him, but since I'm not in charge of the food there, it wasn't doing any good.
I loved this....he tried the bottom edge and then rolled off the platform! Naturally I didn't get that shot, but it was funny!
He recovered and came back to try again! I think he is telling me he is done posing, if I'm not going to go find him some food. Squirrels are good at that "I'm turning my back and not speaking to you...go away" pose. Almost as bad as cats.

I love these as usual mary especially the one where he is trying to get the bottom chewed off. :) Food mst be really scarce if he is eating a dried leaf.

we do not have squirrels or oak trees in Egypt, the Grey squirrel in the uk is becoming a problem. and the reds are very much in decline.
you had snow this time last year.
would love to see some of this years snow. the oak trees from last Novembers blog were so straight and tall. one other thing I noticed is the amount of photos you have , I only half that amount and I had to make a new blogspot, what do you load your photos at. I am trying 1000x750 now. not straight from the camera at 4500x3750.

Tony: I probably won't have snow here until January. Southern Indiana is below the snowbelt most of the time and we don't get too many big storms, although last year we had a terrible ice storm. You are asking the wrong person when it comes to "nuts and bolts" about cameras. I just shoot the photos, download them on to the computer and then put them in my blog. The only time I change a size is if I crop the photo. I went to my photos and looked and it shows them as being 3840x2880 and about 2.65MB in size. That is the size they come from the camera. I have no trouble loading them. I've been on Blogger for 2 years and I've had to buy some photo storage when my percentage got low. That is really all I know about any of this stuff. Sorry. I don't understand why you would have had to start a new blogspot.
Funny, Mary.. I've never seen a squirrel eat a leaf before either. Wonder if some 'sap' or something was on it??????? Weird!!!
I love that picture of the squirrel eating the bottom of the corn.. It almost looks like he is napping...

We went to Westfield, NY this afternoon, and I finally got some pictures of a black Squirrel. Far away, but I got it just the same. I'll post it this week.

Thanks for all the nice comments :-) They had a big assortment of squirrels from little ones to fat ones. This guy was one of the younger looking ones.

Ohhhh...this is just the cutest post every. I love that little squirrel munching on the leaf. I've never seen that either! ...and then to see him trying to get a kernel from the stripped cob. Too cute.
When I saw him heading up the tree with the leaf, I thought maybe he was heading to a nest. I was really surprised when he sat there nibbling on it.
