I like libraries with imagination. The one in downtown Renton, Washington is built over the Cedar River. What a wonderful idea!
A view from outside.
Cute sculpture
A more distant view. There is a nice path that takes you under the library and under the nearby road and along the river. Wonderful place to walk.

An excellent idea. It looks so peaceful there Mary.
You certainly have different libraries over there Mary! What a great idea!
All very beautiful photos Mary, a wonderful library that's for sure and that quilt is fabulous.
Wow --what a neat library (and location), Mary. Someone was VERY creative. And that sculpture is wonderful.
Love the quilt also.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
What a wonderful idea! The only thing they need a deck out there to read on....but I suppose books would get dropped accidentally into the river!
That sure is different Mary I have a mate who works in the library at Broadstairs I will put him onto this post his view is the back of the railway station he sure will be envious . XXX Don
That is a wonderful place for a library. It makes good use of otherwise empty space.
What a cool idea. A see through floor in the library would seem fitting too...
B.
A wonderful location for quiet reading!
Joan: It is a beautiful setting.
Jenny: I was thinking the same thing.....I like seeing buildings that fit in with nature. Downtown Seattle has a park that is an overpass over one of its freeways, too.
Denise: Thanks....I like quilts that commemorate places and events.
This was a nicely done one.
Betsy: I thought the sculpture was really cute. I wonder how many children are drawn to it.
Rose: A deck sounds good, but you are probably right about books ending up in the water :-)
Don: Maybe this will inspire him to look for a way to turn the train station view into a plus somehow.
Ruth: I get really excited about good ideas like this.
Becky: That might make people a bit nervous.
Naturegirl: Definitely! The Wifi hookups were right inside those windows....I might get too distracted to get anything done :-)
Cool!! A library over a river.....that is so neat.
I love the Dahlias in the previous post. They are gorgeous!
Someone hired a brilliant architect. I think this library would draw people just for the view, and if they then actually used it, so much the better. I'm impressed.
Kelly: I would probably want to sit there and read, but get distracted by the life outside in the water :-)
George: I agree...should have tried to find out who the architect was. We need more inovative places like this.
