I didn't have time on Sunday to take photos, but have some left from Saturday. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get a good picture of the Blue Jay, but he either turned his back........which is pretty :-).....or stuck his head behind the tree limb!
Finally the Red Bellied Woodpecker came and scared him away. You can see the woodpecker's tail hanging down in this picture and the jay was watching it closely.
The Red-Bellied wasn't much better! He insisted on staying behind the suet cage and I mostly only got shots of him sticking his head up over the top!
The Downy and the Mockngbird are always the most cooperative posers that I have! Impossible not to get good shots when they just sit there not moving and look at you :-)
The Downy tends to look benign and cute, while the Mockingbird gives me the "evil eye". I think it is the dark streak through the eye that makes it look so devilish, plus he just stares.....and stares......
I accidently took three "over exposed" pictures while playing around with settings. I decided that I sort of liked their ultra-white look!

Sort of hurts the eyes on a white background!

Hey Mary, I know what you mean about we could use some green right about now; that's why I've been posting summer photos lately, I've had my fill of winter. Living in the north like we do teaches us patience I guess.
I really don't think that I could live any farther north. We are usually below the "snow belt" for much of the worse stuff. If I had to live through months of snow, I would be really depressed! It's been a harsh winter all around, it seems.
Hi Mary, I must have hundreds of shots with the birds just behind a twig or the exposure on my camera has decided to do something strange, the woodpecker shots are very nice. Mike.
I try to make myself throw away some of those "bad shots"....but it is hard to weed them out :-)
Mary, my husband recently took the most wonderful close-up pictures of a red tailed hawk, and when he got home he realized his camera was on the wrong setting and his pictures were all blue. Very artsy shots though!
I forgot to say that I really love shots of the downy and the mockingbird. I understand about uncooperative birds!
Sandpiper, I'd probably cry if I lost a good hawk picture! I so seldom see anything like that. I've gone out driving a couple days to where the hawks sit on the power poles along the road, but if I try to stop to photograph them, they fly away.
I was really surprised when I found the "white shots", but actually thought they were sort of interesting....the stark white with just a touch of green and the little birds. They look terrible on the white background of my blog...but I don't know how to put something behind them to make them less glaring. I don't want to change the whole blog look. That Mocking bird just sits and stares at me....I can take 50+ shots and each one will be perfect. He is a great poser as I showed in an earlier post.
