The sun was shining, the wind was not blowing and the birds were very happy. Even though it was still cold today, it didn't feel that bad.
No......he didn't just eat a bird. This is my mystery cat that comes over for breakfast some days and I had just given it a handful of cat food so he wouldn't eat the birds.
The Red-breasted Nuthatch wasn't the least bit bothered by the cat and came looking for peanuts.
Look at the claws on this little guy!
"Oh, good.....my favorite!"
Another shot of that hind claw. I don't think I would want one of these to land on me.
He wasn't too happy about sharing with the Goldfinch.
The Red-bellied woodpecker wasn't happy either.....darn Starlings! A Downy was waiting up on a limb for both of them to go away. Getting crowded around here!
The Robins were so fat looking today....either puffed up for the cold or they've been eating too many of those crab apples.
But what a beauty :-)
The Titmouse got his share of the peanuts.
Carolina Wren eating a suet morsel. He grabs a piece from the suet block and then sits on this little roof to eat it better.
The White-breasted Nuthatch was out today, also.
White-throated Sparrow
Horrible background light, but the Goldfinch and House finch both like this feeder in the shade.
One nice thing about watching birds at feeders is being able to look at their behavior and different parts of them. I was watching this Downy use its tail for balance by pushing against the stick.

The Blue Jay found some leftover corn on this cob.....
.....I'm glad someone eats it!

Wow--what a great variety of birds, Mary... I love the Nuthatches. We only have the White-breasted ones here --but they are always around... When I go outside, they are always hollering at me from the trees... Love 'em!!!!

Never noticed the feet on the Red Breasted Nuthatch before.

I'm glad your mystery cat didn't snack on any of your birds. He looks as if he enjoyed the cat food you had for him. I don't think I'd want the Nuthatch to put his claws into me either!

Spectacular shots Mary. Just marvelous! I love the expression on that cat's face, licking his lips after looking at all those fat Robins! Love it. My grandparents had an all black cat called Clinker.Love your little Nuthatch too. I haven't seen one here in several years.

You knoq what--I cannot get past the background in these pictures...I look at them, scroll back up and look at the date, look back down and then back up...just so different to what we have had.
It did get up above freezing today...maybe one of these days it will be gone.
