Goose Pond, Indiana.....

We drove up to Goose Pond near Linton, Indiana on Tuesday. Parts of it were much drier then the last time we were there, but there were still water areas and a fair variety of birds to see. Don't know what kind of ducks these are, but don't think they are Mallards. I know we saw Mallards, one Wood Duck, a few grebes diving in the distance, Coots. Everything was pretty far out.
An Egret playing "king of the hill". This group of three egrets are the only ones we saw close enough to get photos of.

Mike spotted this pretty little sandpiper. The grasses are so tall that I could barely see it. He took all of these photos, I'm pretty sure.

He said is was bobbing and twisting and turning.

Stalking along

I just happened to be looking at this creek when this frog decided to hop out of the water. Otherwise, I am sure I would not have spotted it!

A snake skin lying in the grass.
We saw several vultures. This one and a friend were checking out the dead muskrat in the middle of the road.
I wasn't real crazy about crossing this bridge! It seemed pretty rickety to me. And of course, we had to come back the other way eventually, but it did lead us to an area we had missed on a previous trip up here.
We took lunch and just sat watching the grassland area while we ate. I saw a couple of White Crowned Sparrows and this one landed on this nice dead limb so I could get a photo.

It even turned around for me :-)

This is shot through the windshield, so it is a bit fuzzy. I think it is a Red Tail Hawk.
A nice drive and a lot of birds. Even though many were too far to get good photos, it was just nice driving around looking.

Love the froggie and the hawk Mary. At least there was still water in this one.

You always manage to get so many good bird pictures! Cute little green froggie, too. Nice hawk, even thru the windshield!

Don't you just love Sandpipers.
That bridge looks pretty spooky too. I don't think I would go through.
Good hawk shot. Usually they don't hold still for me, and I'll be waiting for the White crowned sparrows. I love them.
Frogs still out? I haven't seen any here is weeks.
