Every Thursday, I try to go to Hartman Arboretum, which is just about 2 miles from where we live. The Hartman family have turned about 20 acres of their land into a wonderful arboretum of all sorts of flowers. It is a terrific place to shoot bees, bugs and butterflies.
The flowers themselves are gorgeous and make me so jealous when I see how neatly tended these flowerbeds are and such a variety of flowers!
I was concentrating on the critters while Mike was picking blueberries at their self-pick area.
I love the way the center of this flower looks in close-ups, but the bee is nice, too :-)

These pink flowers were one of the most popular spots.
I'm hoping for more butterfly variety later in the year, but this was the best looking one there this week.

The bug on the left flew in and sort of "attacked" the bee in the middle and drove it away.

I was thrilled to briefly see a Clearwing Hummingbird Moth, but it would not get in a good place for a photo of the whole thing. They always fascinate me and I searched all over for where it went to try for more photos, but it disappeared. Maybe next week.
Green "jewel" in the yellow blossom......however, I believe that is a Japanese Beetle, which is not anybody's friend.
This was a strange one.....wish the photo was better. A wasp of some sort? I was stung by a wasp last week, so I wasn't going to check it out closely.

Roy: Thanks, although I know they aren't as good as yours :-) I find having 2 macro settings more confusing and usually have the wrong one one at the wrong time.

Great shot, Mary! The flower in that last picture appears to be Liatris or Blazing Star. What a wonderful place to go to make pictures!
....that's a whole-lotta buggy bugs. Beautiful shots of that bumblebee hovering near the flower, and I love the beetle in the cup of the yellow flower, beautiful.

Ruth: It's a nice place to go. This is not a fancy place....just some acerage in the country. They only invite the public once a week.
Betsy: The blueberries were picked over pretty much before we got there, but he got enough for some blueberry muffins.
How marvelous are ALL these pictures Mary. Your area is so far ahead of ours. We don't have any Coneflowers blooming yet or Daylilies either. Love your butterflies and my goodness, all those bees. Your macro shots are wonderful!

I love all of your photos except one. I can't approve of Japanese beetles under any circumstance, but I am delighted that one is up there rather than down here! Seriously, these are great macros.
