The Goldfinches have mostly turned to their summer color....bright yellow for the males with a black cap.
My son gave me this nice new dish feeder for Christmas and I have been waiting for a bird to pose on it for me. How appropriate that it turns out to be a Goldfinch, since the dish looks like a big sunflower and they love to eat sunflower seeds!

Our goldfinch are much different to yours Mary.
have put one on from todays shoot and also the pair I saw At the nature reserve at Ynis Hir. while visiting the osprey Nest.

Your Goldfinch is beautiful! As soon as ours turn gold, they travel on to other places...maybe up there;-) Your seed dish is almost like mine. I have water in mine right now because the crows kept landing on it to eat the seeds and turning it over.
Hi Mary, Wonderful feeding plate. I'm sure you'll have MANY birds in the plate once they find all of that delicious food in there for them...I have a plate feeder too--but not a fancy one. The birds do love it. The only problem is putting it up when it rains!!!!

BEAUTIFUL photos of the Goldie, Mary!! I love the feeding dish. I'm looking for something similar to feed mealworms to the Bluebirds.
