Hi Mary- What a neat place. So many geese. I have yet to see snow or white fronted geese in the wild, so I really enjoyed this series of pictures. As far as your mystery duck goes, I would GUESS that they are american widgeons.
Also- As far as your in flight shots, try using a faster shutter speed to stop the action. There are plenty of ways to do this, one of the simplest methods would be to use the sports or action setting on your camera.
