Birds at home....

Lots of feeder activity right now.
The Blue Jay.  He'd rather have peanuts, but suet cake will do.

The Catbird also likes the suet.

I was happy that he was in a posing mood.
"Is that enough photos?  Can I go back to eating now?"
The Mockingbird is in the same family as the Catbird.  This is the one that only has one foot.  He was struggling with his balance here, but managed to eat some suet.  He seems to be a survivor so far.  I wish I could just put a whole cake of suet out there on a tray for him, but the sparrows would gobble it up before he even got near it.
One of my Chipping Sparrows.  He eats the bits of suet that fall when the big birds are eating.
I have lots of Downys!  Here are three on the ash tree.  At least two are young ones.
A young male trying to hang on to the pole.
Another young one eating some suet.
I suspect that Mrs. Red-bellied has some young out there somewhere, too.
Grabbing a large chunk of suet to fly away with.
Some of the House Sparrow brats eating fallen suet bits.
Titmouse at the suet.  All of the birds want the suet right now.  I guess not only is it high energy, but easy to feed to their babies.
"You could buy some more peanuts next time you go to the store...please?"

Hi There, I'm trying to catch up after being gone for a week. My birds were probably upset with me since I put everything away while we were gone. Our squirrels and other critters would have just made a mess---and the poor birds wouldn't have gotten much of anything. Oh Well---the birds are back and enjoying the feeders again... We have almost the same birds here that you have.

Hugs,
Betsy

Delightful photos of your birds Mary. I paid great interest to the twig you used to put through your suet feeder. What a great idea. I noticed the plastic anchoring it. Where did you buy those? Excuse the silly question but I would like to set up something similar to make it easier for the birds.

Glad you labeled that one bird a catbird - I thought it was a mocking bird at first.

looks like the birds are all at your place. Perhaps that's why I have so few.

Oh, Mary these are wonderful photos! I love the ones of the catbird! And the downies are awesome! Great shots all the way around! My suet feeders are very popular right now too...that makes sense that it's probably easy to feed to the babies.
