Taking a break from tennis watching :-)......

I took a break from watching the US Tennis Open and went to the wetlands one evening.  I was surprised to find a group of geese and a large group of ducks.  Is it migrating time already?  Fall is coming on fast.
Two of the geese.
At least a dozen or so ducks.  Mama Mallard and her brood of 5 babes that I featured a week or so past was there and all 5 babes still with her.  They are almost as big as she is now.
Thistle going to seed
Kind of a distant shot and not too good, but this female Cardinal has a rather large juicy looking caterpillar that I saw it pick off a leaf.
Arrowhead plants along the water.
I still have a hummingbird hanging around.  I think these are the first hummingbird photos I have taken this year.
Hummingbirds are so graceful and delicate

OK....I'm going back to tennis :-)  We still have 4 American men in the tournament and 1 female.  We might have had more American men, but they had to keep playing each other and eliminating their own countrymen.  We have a good crop of young tennis players starting to make their way and pulling upsets of higher ranked players. Even though I am a huge Roger Federer fan, I would be thrilled to see one of the American men win the tournament!  Go Fish, Roddick, Isner and Young!  And Serena Williams is a good bet to win the women's.

Yes,fall migration has begun. I noticed several Warblers around my yard today and the geese are much more active. Your Hummingbird shots are great.

lovely shots....seems like we all have hummingbirds on our minds right now. They won't be here for long.

Isner just went down to Murray....and Nadal is whipping up on Roddick right now. Roddick was doing so well in the tourney too. Maybe next year (wasn't Roddick the last American to win it in 2003?).
