Late summer youngsters......

I saw several late summer "babes" out front today getting some sunflower seeds.

A young male Cardinal with a wild crest.  The chest is beginning to look a lovely red color.

A young female cardinal....doesn't have its red beak yet.

I've got lots of Goldfinches hanging around, but haven't seen any babies yet.  They are one of the last birds to nest.  They wait until there is a steady supply of their favorite seeds available.

This male shows signs of starting to shed its yellow feathers, but not very much yet.

It's forehead looks a bit messy, so I would say it is about to lose the black part.

Most have been the day for young House Finches....there were 2-3 around looking a bit lost and unsure of how to feed themselves.

The Goldfinch and House Finch together.

I don't know why this Goldfinch is sitting on the House Finch.  I hope there is nothing wrong with it.  I think the Goldfinch just wanted it to go away from the fountain.  My House Finches never look very healthy.

We went to Wesselman Woods Nature Center and I saw several young Robins.  Here the adult Robin is keeping an eye on this youngster.

Saw dozens of Robins around the place checking out the water features mostly.

Tennis ends on Monday.  They delayed the finish because of all the rain they have had.  The American men have all been eliminated as of today.  The top 4 seeds are left to battle it out for the trophy.
