I went to the Wetlands today to look for butterflies. 
There was a huge area of "yellow" flowers that they really love. I saw at least 5-6 different types of butterflies on these flowers plus bees and other bugs.
I've never been good at naming the different daisy-like yellow flowers.....here is one with a bee.
Saw plenty of Sulphurs.....Clouded Sulphur.
I actually got a partly open shot! And a bug friend nearby. They are so pretty inside, but don't sit with their wings open and I am too slow to catch them usually.
This one was really open and looks weird.....is it two butterflies together?
A more normal shot....half hidden by the flowers.
Several new looking Monarchs were flitting about, but again, I can't seem to get the open shots.

This was a pleasant surprise!.....I think it is a Checkered White?
Besides the yellow flowers there are lots of Thistles at the moment and the bees love them. These two are really covered in pollen.
Buckeye butterflies were everywhere. I counted 10 in one small area.

Another one. I like these little butterflies and usually find them very cooperative for photos.
Opening up
I saw this one Painted Lady, but this isn't a very clear shot. She was way out in the middle of the patch of flowers. Saw other smaller yellow butterflies...another type of Sulphur....and one black butterfly made a quick pass over my head.

You either have amazing patience or a long lens to get all these butterfly shots. I even take a step in their direction and they are flitting further and yet further away from me! I don't think I've taken one butterfly picture this year. Wait a minute, I did, of a mating couple that were too preoccupied to move!
You have so many shots of the butterflies! I think you must have more patience than I do! I just don't stay in the same place for long enough...
This morning, I started cutting back the burrs that are near the places I walk. I was not fast enough, though. Annie is covered in them today... Sigh!

Grammie: I'll check out your sulphurs when I finish here. I know I was seeing two different sizes, but never could get a photo of the second one. The Buckeyes don't quite make it far enough north for you. But you see a lot of pretty ones that I don't!
Cicero: I do have patience, but I can stand fairly close to these flowers and have a long lens. I took some of them standing on a viewing area that was sort of above and jutted out into the flowers.
Judy: Thanks...I try to be patient, but they do flit about constantly. The Monarchs gave me the most trouble.
Those are so great! That one picture does looke like it could be two butterflies...very interesting.
Love your butterfly and flower shots! I always get a little frustrated too trying to get those pictures of the open wings! But the challenge is what keeps it interesting, right? :-)
So good to see some butterflies. They just aren't here! All the milkweed died during the hot summer, and now my butterflybush is blooming and nothing to enjoy it!
