Baby geese........

We just got back from a two day trip with friends over to Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge in Seymour, Indiana......plus 4 wineries along the way.  It was a short trip and drizzled rain the whole two days, but we did get a few photos and saw lots of good stuff.  My better camera is now fixed and was suppose to arrive the day we were leaving, so I tried to get them to let me pick it up at FedEx, but they loaded it on the truck anyway and we had to leave before it arrived.  Then to make it worse, the driver left it sitting propped up, unattended against the front door for the two days we were gone!  I guess I'm lucky to have it back at all....and not water logged!  So all the photos from the trip are with the old camera and many were very "pixely" (if that is a word) and useless.  Some things I thought we had good photos of, we didn't.
I always enjoy the Canada Geese and their babies and we saw quite a few families of them.  This was a very small family....just one baby.

A much larger family of 6 young ones.

A family curled up on the bank.
Three babes....
....Six babes.
This family had the youngest ones we saw....so cute and fuzzy, but hard to pick out in the tall grass.
Many photos that I'll be showing were taken by Mike.  It just depended on who was on the right side of the car with the best view.

It is so neat how one of the parents is usually in the lead and the other brings up the end with the babies in the middle. They definitely seem to be able to communicate with their children and expect them to be orderly.

Hi Mary, Sounds like you all had a nice trip. Sorry about your camera though. Glad it was there when you got home.

I love seeing all of the 'babies' this time of year. I will post a picture of a baby Cardinal who comes (with his brother or sister) to our feeders now... Dad helped them learn to eat -and they are eating on their own now.. SO cute.

Hugs,
Betsy

Lucky about the camera Mary. Shouldn't they be getting someone to sign for deliveries.?
Good shots of the Canadas anyway.

Thanks everyone!

Roy: We had been told we would have to sign for it....one reason I didn't ask a neighbor to look for it. At least it works again!

Lovely photos of the new family Mary. I love to watch the little ones this time of year. In fact, I have a post showing some that I have just put on my blog.

Camera woes! But still you got some good shots.

Isn't dreadful that they left your camera out in the open like that. Something similar has happened to me. Fortunately do one took it. If it had happened at the coast ... it would have been gone, gone, gone.

I'm glad you got your camera back! I'm sorry it didn't arrive in time for your trip.

I understand your frustration with FedEx. I have so many "horror" stories dealing with FedEx. I now try to avoid them whenever possible. I try my best not to deal with companies that only offer FedEx shipping. But unfortunately they are not always avoidable.

I just love all the geese babies at this time of year. So many in one place. Oh what a mess with your camera. I sure hope it wasn't damaged by the wet weather.
