It's SkyWatch Friday! We've had blue skies with lots of puffy clouds all week!
This shot of the sky was at a public park. (Formerly a landfill and this area is off-limits to people, but the meadowlarks like it)
****************************
The rest of my post is of the flower meadow at Oaklyn Library. This branch of our public library is underground with a lovely wildflower meadow on top that you can walk around.
A view of the sky as I walk up the hill to get on top of the library.
What looks like a "building" is actually a skylight looking down into the library below. They have mown paths among the flowers and I walked around for an hour or more looking for butterflies and enjoying the flowers.
An over-view of part of the meadow.
Masses of flowers that were full of bees.
Below are shots of various critters and flowers I saw.
Widow Skimmer male

Sulphur
A couple of bugs here, but don't know what kind

Black Tiger Swallowtail, I think. It was very windy and this butterfly stayed deep in the flowers.

One of the many bees that loved this flowers!
Some grasses along one edge of the meadow.
A last view of the sky!
That's my SkyWatch for this week. For more skies from around the world click on the icon on my sidebar.

Lovely, what became of that landfill!
Sandy: I think I left some confusion....the landfill and the library are two different places, but the landfill area is now a nice spot for birds and soccer fields.
My goodness Mary, not many people get to go through heaven to get to their library. Lucky you and lucky us to get to see all this glory through your blog.
It is not me this time Mary, the problem is with the Prof's memory which is giving way at quite a rapid rate., so it is off to a neurologist and MRI scans.
Last year I could still get down on one knee to plant or weed. For a few years now I have had to get up like a cow to rise from the ground. Now weeding is out, I just hope I can get my 130 roses pruned. Last year I did not manage it. I still feel like a girl but my body is rebelling against its ill treatment in the last 73 years.
Hi Mary...nice place and photos...the bee's are probably attracted to that one plant that is called Bee Balm!!: } Looks like some Echinacea and Rudbeckia to!! Have a great 4th weekend!!
You have talked about this underground library before. What was the purpose of them building underground??? Save energy??? Environmental???? Interesting how they did that..
Love the wild flowers in that area.. WOW!!!
Happy 4th..
Hugs,
Betsy
Mary: A beautiful place under lovely skies.
I like Arija's comment about walking through heaven to get to the library. :)
What a cool place!
What lovely skies to walk under too!
What an amazing place.I think this is such a great idea,to build a library underground and then to add all this beauty above it.
Blessings,Ruth

I just LOVE this underground library Mary! Such a fabulous idea. I wish we had something like it over here. I think I made a similar comment last time you posted about it!! (-:
My oh my what a wonderful rainbow of colors. I love your butterfly shots. How lucky! Still not many here although we have lots of great Milkweed flowers this year.
Cool sky shots too. I like the wispy clouds.
B.
Thanks everyone!
Betsy: The lot they built on was a natural hill to begin with, so the idea of putting the library underground....all but the front, which looks very normal....was a good enviromental move. Saves energy, and looks lovely with all the flowers. They are holding a wildflower walk there this weekend.
The first and last photos are awesome!
