Hotter than Hades!Than we have the subject of "squirrel proof" feeders! Ha! I gave up on trying to buy them. These little acrobats will find a way to any feeder they want if you give them enough time. Why fight it? Anyone willing to work that hard and then hang by his toes to eat deserves all the seeds he can reach. Have at it, Squirrel! Great exercise!
Anytime you need a "day brightener"......just look for a squirrel and watch him and laugh. He may be watching you for the same reason :-)

A very cute squirrel, and its looking like its having lots of fun! And so interesting looking with its reddish belly. I think you had mentioned they were Fox Squirrels. I have never seen them before, nor even their picture! Glad that you posted these.

I'm really not up on squirrel names, but I looked on the Internet for squirrels in this area and it seemed to fit the picture of the Fox Squirrel. It is really some other squirrel, I will be happy to be corrected :-) I really loved his "flat out" posing...my all time favorite squirrel picture.
What beautiful pictures and I love how pretty the fur looks. The poses are terrific and fun! I love watching them. I've only had one squirrel with a red tummy where I live, and the rest have white tummies. I do have a lot of squirrels now that have red feet though. Fox squirrels are confusing to me. I'm told that fox squirrels are bigger than grey squirrels. The ones I saw in VA (Delmarva Fox Squirrels)have white tummies and are very different from the ones in SC. My friend often sees them in SC. They are strange looking little critters...black with white faces. I've also seen the orange tummy fox squirrels on the net and I think that must be what was here visting me, too.
Sandpiper...They confuse me, too. This is the only kind of squirrel that I generally see here in southern Indiana, but I do know there are smaller grey squirrels around, also....just not at my house. And not far away in Illinois is a town noted for its albino squirrels! I intend to go there this year...I want pictures! This squirrel is pretty good sized as you can see comparing him to the feeders. Most are easily as big as my cats :-) They love watching squirrels, too. Sometimes the belly isn't as red...see photo at side in the favorite spot (more beige). The tail is always foxy reddish. Maybe the coloration varies with the season.
Interesting about your squirrels. I've only seen albino/leucistic squirrels in pictures, but we have started seeing black squirrels here now. We also have red.
