I had a lot of photos of the Buckeye butterflies at Mouteau Park, so I may as well post a few more.
This one was quite willing to pose and was very perfect.

There were several tattered Buckeyes and this one seemed lighter in color, too. Older, maybe?

A Buckeye and a Clouded skipper, I think. I'm not good at identifying skippers and don't usually try.
The really perfect one on the right kept bothering this tattered one on the left. I thought they were trying to mate at first, but decided it was a battle instead. Apparently they are rather territorial.

Beautiful Buckeyes!! I've seen some quite tattered ones lately too. I will be very sad with the butterflies are gone :(

These are great pictures of the beautiful Common Buckeye!! Have you ever looked closely at an enlargement of their wings? They include so many different colors!
Those Buckeye are lovely ... I don't think we have any in our neck of the woods ... at least I've never seen the like.
Buckeyes are SOOO beautiful. I think you need to make a wall hanging quilt with just them...

Oh, Buckeyes are just soooooo beautiful. There were lots at the strip pits yesterday but none cooperated fully.
