I looked out on the deck last night and saw two big raccoons looking for seeds. One immediately ran away.....then I noticed that there were two more small ones in the feeding dish.![]()
The big raccoons ran away when I opened the door......mother deserted the little ones! The two small ones weren't sure what they were suppose to do and stayed there long enough for a few photos.
"Oh, oh....we're the only ones left! Where did mom go? What do we do now?"
"I don't know what you are going to do, but I'm hiding behind you! Do you think she can still see me?"

Cute!.....but I hope they don't hang around for very long. Will have to cut back on food and try to make sure it is all gone before they come.

They are cute but can rob your feeders every night! I try to put out just what I think the birds will eat during the day.
I know they can be a pest but they are just too cute for words.

They are the cutest little things EVER!! I know they're pests when it comes to food of about ANY kind, but they are just adorable to look at. :D
They are exactly the reason I have to take all the feeders I have on my decks in each night. Otherwise we hear things going "bump" in the night. I have a couple of blogs from previous years where the mother deserted several of them on my deck in the middle of my flowers and apparently she had only taught them to climb up. Going down was a skill they weren't quite sure of.

oh Mary, these little guys are adorable. i love raccoons. they are very inquisitive creatures. and very mean so i've heard. but, baby raccoons don't seem to know what to do when approached so they huddle together for protection. my daughter and i saved three baby raccoons from being killed on the road one evening. it was a wonderful feeling to know i'd had a part in helping them survive. hope all is well. have a great night.
We don't seem to have coons here but I've taken my window feeders down as the red squirrel was getting too cheeky - jumping on window screens/climbing up door frames to leap to the feeders (I didn't realize they could do the latter!). Sigh
Cute critters they are, BUT I have at least 2 big ones, and 2 nights ago I looked out under the feeders and there were 4 skunks! Mercy, what now!

For some reason, I find that raccoons are fun to watch even when they are robbing me blind.
They are cute little beggars, but I can see why you don't want them to move in...
I didn't see the eyes till I enlarged it...but once I did I can see them in the smaller version.
Hello, We are home from our wonderful trip... We loved it --but there's nothing like HOME.
Even though I sweep the deck every night and put away most of the feeders (which they can get into), the raccoons STILL come to the deck and finish eating anything which may be left around.... Haven't seen any babies though.
